When you compare your early stages to someone else’s long term training history, you miss the small wins that actually build your future chapter ten.

At Body & Movement Collective, we see this all the time. The difference is rarely effort. It is exposure, consistency and structured progression.

The messy invert, the shaky climb, the bent leg you swear was straight in your head. That is chapter one doing exactly what chapter one is meant to do.

Often we hear or pole dancers believe:
“Just rest your injury and it’ll be fine.”

And look, sometimes short periods of relative rest are appropriate, especially if something is highly irritated or injured ☺️
But complete rest alone usually isn’t the magical fix people hope it will be.
What commonly happens is:
the injury feels a little better because you’ve temporarily stopped aggravating it… but the underlying issue hasn’t actually been addressed 😅
Then as soon as you return to your normal training load, tricks, flexibility work or classes… the pain comes straight back. And sometimes it’s even worse.
Because if your body’s capacity, strength, load tolerance or movement control hasn’t improved, simply avoiding the problem for a few weeks usually doesn’t prepare you to tolerate those demands again long term.
And unfortunately, long periods of complete rest can sometimes leave people weaker, more deconditioned, less confident in movement, more fearful of returning to training and with reduced tolerance to the loads they were previously handling.
Rehab and injury recovery isn’t about doing absolutely nothing and hoping your body magically fixes itself.
It’s about understanding why something became painful in the first place, then gradually rebuilding your body’s ability to tolerate load again safely and confidently 🙌
That might involve:
modifying training,
improving strength capacity,
changing programming,
working on movement control,
managing recovery better,
or temporarily reducing certain aggravating movements while still keeping you training and doing what you love. 
Our goal isn’t just to get you out of pain.
It’s to help make your body more resilient long term ☺️
