Introducing C-section Scar Release Massage at Fearless Health 💗
A C-section affects more than the scar we can see. Surgery passes through multiple layers of tissue, and scar tissue can influence how those layers move, feel and connect with one another.
You may notice pulling, tightness, numbness, sensitivity, changes in abdominal connection or simply feel uncomfortable touching your scar. You might also be wondering whether anything can be done when your C-section was years ago.
During your appointment, we assess your scar, breathing and movement before working through the ribs, diaphragm, abdomen, hips and the scar itself. We use techniques to mobilise the affected layers, with the pressure and depth adapted to your body, needs and pain tolerance.
Appointments are suitable from approximately 8 weeks postpartum and beyond, once your incision has healed and there are no signs of infection or complications.
You’ll also receive personalised self-care guidance, which may include scar massage, silicone cups, cream or scar tape to continue supporting your scar at home.
Whether your baby is 8 weeks, 2 years or 25 years old, your scar has not passed its expiry date.

The scar you can see is only one layer of your C-section recovery.
During a C-section, several layers of tissue are carefully opened or separated to reach the uterus. This felt model gives us a simplified look at those layers and helps explain why scar care can involve far more than working directly over the visible line.
In a C-section Scar Release appointment, I also assess breathing and movement through the ribs, abdomen and hips, changes in sensation and how comfortable you feel connecting with the area.
Every surgery and recovery is individual, but your C-section was major abdominal surgery. Your body deserves care that recognises the full story.
C-section Scar Release appointments are suitable from at least 8 weeks postpartum and beyond. (Hint: it's never too late to work with your scar)

Check out the latest review Tristan received on Google:
"Best massage I have ever had!!
Not your typical feel-good although it did feel great... It was a true remedial massage.
Tristan is amazing at what he does! I left my massage with so much more free movement in my body.
He tuned in & focused on the spots that needed it while still giving an overall massage.
I used to think 'no pain no gain' with massage & was amazed at how the massage helped me without hurting me. It worked much better than the bruising ones I was used to getting.
Highly recommend. Will be telling all my friends & family.
Already booked my next one, can't wait!"
This review gets to the heart of what we believe remedial massage should be.
It is not a routine performed in the same order on every person. It is not a competition to see how much pressure you can survive. And bruising is not proof that a treatment worked.
We listen to what you are experiencing, assess how your body is moving and focus your treatment where it is needed, while still considering the bigger picture.
As this client discovered, effective remedial work can feel good too. You do not need to choose between a massage that feels good and one that creates change.
If pain, stiffness or restricted movement has been getting in your way, book a Remedial or Sports Massage with Tristan.

Women are given some truly wild advice about their bodies and health, and somehow we’re expected to simply nod and carry on.
This one has stayed with me. Now I want to hear yours 👇
What’s the most unhinged health advice you’ve ever received?

It’s Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week, and this year’s theme is "do it anyway".
Not because women need another instruction to push harder, squeeze more in or somehow become better at doing everything. But because caring for your health doesn’t have to begin with a complete life overhaul.
💜Book the appointment you’ve been putting off.
💜Ask the question you felt embarrassed to ask.
💜Begin moving in a way that feels good in your body.
💜Rest before you have completely run yourself into the ground.
💜Seek another opinion when something still doesn’t feel right.
💜Start with one small thing that supports you.
At Fearless Health, we believe women deserve healthcare that listens to their experiences, respects every stage of life and helps them feel informed, capable and confident in their bodies.
Keep following Fearless Health as we’ll be talking about the many parts of women’s health that deserve more attention, including movement, pain, recovery, scars, strength and the changes our bodies experience across a lifetime.
What is one thing you have been meaning to do for your health?
Perhaps this is your week to do it anyway.
Does your C-section scar give you the ick?
Perhaps you avoid looking at it, do not like touching it, or feel strangely disconnected from the area. That response deserves care, not judgement.
C-section scar release is not about attacking the scar or forcing your body to tolerate painful work. We begin gently and look beyond the visible line, including your breathing and the movement through your ribs, abdomen, hips and surrounding tissues.
The aim is to help you better understand the area, explore what feels restricted or sensitive and build confidence with safe touch and self-care at home.
This service is suitable from at least 8 weeks postpartum and beyond. Your baby might be eight months or eighteen years old. It is not too late to reconnect with your scar.

Today we said goodbye to Dubbo Women's Business Network 👋
It was our last official meeting and we ended with Women's Health presentations from Bron and Catherine from Cultivate Health Centre and myself.
We believe in the importance of creating this space to speak on topics that were once considered taboo.
Spending the last 2 years creating the DWBN with Kate Astill | Business Coach has been amazing. We have loved working together, building our friendship and seeing other women connect in a safe space.
Our decision was fast because the timing was right for us.
I feel that too often we keep doing things out of obligation to others and to the detriment of ourselves.
I have been trying to juggle so much and I've decided I need to focus on Fearless Health, our family and myself.
Lately I have been making small (difficult and uncomfortable) changes to be able to shift my priorities.
I am grateful for the women who have believed in us, connected and supported our group. The community still exists and we hope this is not the end of the relationships we built.
Thank you to all of our speakers for your time and sharing your expertise. The community has benefited from your generosity.
🍸 We will have casual farewell drinks on Friday 25th Sept (location TBA) to wrap up this adventure together.
Thank you for supporting Dubbo Women’s Business Network

Last weekend I completed my C-Section Release Method training with Madelaine Longrigg | Women’s Health Myotherapist | , and it has reignited my passion for postnatal care.
This training is so important because it brings together so many of the systems I’ve been studying and working with for over 20 years as a Remedial Massage Therapist and Personal Trainer.
Breathing and the diaphragm.
The nervous system.
Scar tissue and restrictions.
Muscle function.
Lymphatics.
Movement.
And importantly, self care at home.
Rather than looking at a scar as one isolated thing to "fix", we can look at how pregnancy, birth, surgery and recovery have influenced the body as a whole.
It has also expanded the way I think about other scars, previous injuries and conditions such as endometriosis, and the restrictions they can create throughout the body.
Mostly though, this training reminded me just how much I LOVE working in this space.
Because of this shift, I have now closed my books to new general Remedial Massage clients, while continuing to welcome new Pregnancy and Postnatal Massage clients.
So you’re going to see me leaning much further into pregnancy, postnatal recovery, scars, lymphatics and women’s health at Fearless Health.
And I’m very excited about where this is heading. 💗
Is this what your body is looking for?
Reach out with any questions or to book (I'll add you to the waitlist) 😉
💌 Fun note: Photo 1 is with me and Victoria, a past client from Sydney. A fellow massage therapist who I treated during her pregnancy and by coincidence we enrolled in the same course in Brisbane to learn side by side. Check out South West Massage Therapy
