Last Monday I did a thing… long hair workshop with the fabulous Paula Hibbard.

The best hair stylists know that education never ends. Trends change, new products launch, and techniques improve every single day.

What an amazing day surrounded by amazing people. After all these years behind the chair I still get excited to invest in my craft.

Why does it sometimes take me a little while to reply to appointment requests? 🤪

It’s probably because…

• I’m trying to organise lifts so my kids can all get to their afternoon sports.
• I’ve stared at my appointment book for so long that I can’t see a single gap anymore, so I need to sleep on it and look again with fresh eyes.
• I really don’t want to say “no”, so I’m secretly hoping a few extra hours magically appear in the day.
• I’m waiting for Doris to confirm the appointment she’s had booked for four months, or for Mavis to decide whether she’s having a trim or a full head of foils, all while trying to fit Rufus in without him crossing paths with Gordon.
• One of my little boys has a school event, but I’m still waiting on the final details.
• My big girls might be taller than me now, but somehow they still need Mum.
• I’m teaching physie or coaching touch football.
• I’m checking the soccer draw, basketball schedule, physie competition dates, touch footy times, or cricket roster.
• I’m tracking down a parcel that I need that seems to have disappeared into thin air.
• It’s 8pm, I’ve been working from the van since 8am, I’m nowhere near my appointment book, and my brain has officially clocked off.

The truth is, I try my absolute best to fit everyone in. Sometimes it takes me a little longer because I’m juggling work, family, and about 47 different schedules while trying to make appointments work for everyone.

Thank you for your patience, your kindness, and for understanding that behind the scissors is a very busy mum doing her best. Never a burden. Always grateful. 💜

The longer I do this work, the more I realize the chair holds far more than hair. People bring their lives with them. 
The celebrations.
The heartbreak.
The quiet things they may not say anywhere else. For over 35 years behind the chair, I’ve had the privilege of listening, encouraging, laughing, and sometimes simply sitting with someone in a moment that matters. Being a hairstylist is wild because one minute I’m a chemist mixing formulas, the next I’m a therapist, then a hype woman, then a small business CEO answering DMs at 9pm 😂

People see the finished balayage and the cute reels…
They don’t see the sore feet, the mental math, the rebooking strategy, the product knowledge, the constant learning.

But I wouldn’t trade it.

There’s something really special about watching someone look in the mirror and stand a little taller. That’s the part that makes it worth it.

So if you sit in my chair — just know you’re not “just another appointment.”
You’re supporting a dream. And I pour my whole heart into it every single time.

MILESTONE WEEK!
7 years ago I opened the salon… and somehow I’ve blinked and here we are:
26 years since I started in hair,
9 years teaching physie at Orana Club,
1.5 years since I got my barber qualification
and all 4 kids now at school!

So thankful for the support, the friendships, the clients who became family, and everyone who’s backed my dreams over the years. I’m one lucky woman 💜
