Being respected will sometimes cost you being liked.

The moment you stop saying yes to everything, some people will call you difficult.

The moment you set boundaries, those who benefited from your lack of them may call you selfish.

Let them.

A life built around pleasing everyone eventually becomes a life that belongs to everyone except you.

You were not born to carry every burden placed on your back.
You do not owe unlimited access to your time, energy, or peace.

A Stoic understands that kindness without boundaries becomes self-neglect.

Be generous, but not easily used.
Be compassionate, but not easily controlled.
Be peaceful, but never so afraid of conflict that you surrender your dignity.

You do not need to become cold or cruel.

You simply need the courage to say no when no is necessary.

Some people may dislike the version of you they can no longer control.

That is a price worth paying.

Better to stand alone with self-respect than belong everywhere by abandoning yourself.
