Life has been a beautiful whirlwind of being pulled from here to there of late. Juggling being a Mother, running my own business, practicing as an Osteopath, working as a clinical educator at Victoria University and building a home from scratch - the past two years have been a constant ebb and flow of peaks and troughs.

The social media posts for my beautiful little business may be quite sparse, but the beauty of Osteopathy, of being allowed in to witness the beauty of so many incredible patients lives and bodies is something I never ever take for granted.

Thank you all for coming in, trusting me with your body, your children’s health and opening up to me, allowing me to continually see and be in awe of the incredible resilience and power of our internal nature.

I’ve really been reminded significantly of late of the inherant importance of seeing ourselves as nature, when we do, when we really connect to our core, we see and can feel that our hearts are intertwined with not only the earth’s rhythms, but all of the vibrations and rhythms around us.

From the gentle chatter of birdsong at sunrise, to the vast expanse of the horizon, nature always reflects our capacity for growth, change and renewal.

How are you connecting to her and each other today?

A poem by William Martin.

The ultimate quest for eternal contentment and awe, with the simultaneous acknowledgment of one’s ability to fly.

This first law of thermodynamics, which is also known as ‘The Law of Conservation of Energy’ works in all sphere of life.

Whe need to get more comfortable with using the word energy, how it can felt, sensed and transferred.

When I first meet people, when I hear them use the word energy, I know we think the same way. 🙏

Decreased shoulder range of motion during or post breast cancer treatment ?

Stretching and mobility routines, strength and range of motion exercises combined with manual therapy could help you.

28/05/2024

The mobility of the shoulder is commonly affected during breast cancer treatment due to a number of factors.

Following surgery (mastectomy, lumpectomy, axillary lymph node dissection, breast reduction/reconstruction) the shoulder’s normal range of motion may be affected.

With a prescription of exercises and hangs on manual therapy aimed at gradually improving the movement of the arm and shoulder, a breast cancer Osteopath can help get you back to your activities of daily life with less pain and more ease.

After Breast Cancer - did you know that an Osteopath can be an integral part of your team of Medical and Allied Health professionals during and after your breast cancer treatment & recovery.

In 2023 I was fortunate to learn from and how we can help and support you throughout all stages of your breast cancer journey (if you don’t follow her - you must. Jen is an absolute wealth of knowledge and an expert in this field).

A breast cancer Osteopath can assist, advise and help you manage symptoms associated with: lymphoedema, peripheral neuropathy, radiation fibrosis, restoring shoulder range of motion and treatment for early cording to name a few.

Osteopath’s use hands on treatment to improve range of motion, mobilise restricted tissues and to enhnace and promote circulation.

Who is a part of your health care team?

The BIO-PSYCHO-SOCIAL approach to healthcare systemically considers all biological, psychological and social factors, their significant interaction and how their complex interactions affect one’s health, distress, injury, illness and health care delivery.

Andrew Taylor Still ~ the founder of Osteopathy, was one of the first to consider and view health from this logical and scientific perspective. 🙏

Some days, actually most days I am reminded how incredibly fortunate I am to have the privilege of working on and with so many incredible bodies.

Strong, adaptive and healthy bodies. Using my hands and knowledge to gently guide and educate patients, inviting our patients to be the driver in their recovery, creating space that allows the healing to flourish and reinforcing the need for movement, strength and balance.

Osteopath’s use evidence, science and a thorough understanding on anatomy and physiology to direct our management of patients, we strive for the highest of professional wellbeing standards, adhere to government regulations and learn continuously.

April is WORLD OSTEOPATHIC AWARENESS MONTH and I and fully aware that it has taken me all month to finally have time to get to my Instagram post 😉.

Osteopaths hold a very unique space in the allied health field; we take time with out patients, dedicated to finding and highlighting succinct and attainable ways to best support the patients inherent physical healing and wellbeing.

The hands on aspect is only a mere fraction of the healing journey, through education, exercise and rehabilitation a patient is guided back to their inherant wisdom, their own healing power, the power of nature.

We are nature. Never separate from it. It’s the air we breathe, the food we eat, how we choose to spend our time & the people and places we divide and share our energy with.

“ Hidden within trauma and grief is a doorway that can lead to personal transformation. Finding the entry point requires the courage, curiosity, intelligence and flexibility to wade wide-eye into dark waters, where the seed of change resudes. When discovered and nurtured, this seed has the power to emerge from the quagmire like a lotus flower, changing the individual forever”. 🖊️ ROBYN LEA

I read this just yesterday in one of my books inspring me on all things to do with building our house (what a strange place I thought) …and knew it needed to be stored somewhere special for more people to read ✨ 🪷

Wishing you & your loved ones time, space, love, health & new growth during this wonderful season of light.

May you all be nourished by food, friends, family and all of nature’s gifts as we reflect and celebrate the year that was.

With the new year upon us, may we continue to dedicate our energy to all that our full potential holds, having faith, believing, feeling and expressing all the emotions for all that we have experienced & emerging into every new day with the greatest of gratitude and energy for the potential of change.

My family and I are currently enjoying a little summer hiatus, a much needed and very welcomed time to recharge.

See you all back in the studio Tuesday January, 16th. 🙏✨

How do you stay present in times of acute stress?

How much do you listen to your body?

How much do you see the special, magical and moments of beauty in each day?

The more we connect to our body, connect to our breath, take time out of our day just for ourselves and the more that we take things slow, the more beauty and opportunity for joy we will witness in the world around us.

Giving yourself time, despite how precious and valuable our time can seem, will give you back more than you can imagine.

Speaking from biased experience of course !
