Little Poppets - Doll Repairs

Hi,I'm Sue, I've been making & restoring dolls for over 30 yrs. No doll is too old or broken to love.

I was talking today with my dentist who is gradually restoring my teeth after being ravaged by the effects of radiation i had 6 years ago, which cured the cancer in my throat.
He was fascinated with what I do with doll and toy repairs.
As I was laying back listening to the drills and feeling the pressure of fillings being packed, I realised the correlation between his work and mine, packing drying and sanding to reshape broken things. His work is on a miniature scale compared to mine, but nonetheless as creative.

Do you remember my little friend whose hair I was rerooting ?
I finally finished her and she flew home to NZ a few weeks ago.
I thought you poppets might like to see how she turned out 😉

A simple restring, for a most unusual bear.
Ive never seen one like him before..not this size..his owner thinks he may have been a shop display model in the past. One of those simple but fun jobs to do.

Had a whale of a time with this well loved fellow.
Whose pretty blue hide had become rather yellow.
He'd been cuddled and cuddled for so many years.
Im sure he held stories of laugher and tears.
We washed him, and washed him until he was blue.
Went home to his owner, looking good as new. 🐳🐳🐳

Lovely little AM composition bub came to stay.
For a gentle clean and some repairs to her handknitted under garments. A gentle wash for her petticoat, cardigan and her stunning, but fragile silk dress.
She was in very good condition over all, just a bit dusty and her eyes needed a good clean.
Found the perfect silk bonnet to match her dress which finished her ensemble perfectly.
She was a joy to work on for sure.

Home safely after 3 days in Mt Gambia with Geelong Crusaders, participating in the Medieval Fantasy Fair. Of course the doll lover here had to add another little poppet to my family.
Lots of fun, despite feeling a bit poorly (thanks to my daughter for sharing her lurgy)
Spent today alternating between unpacking and reaching for tissues.
Back to my patients tomorrow, with hopefully a clearer head lol.

Huge weekend at the Geelong Yuletide Medieval Festival....our group had a fantastic time doing battle for the crowds, and watching other performers. The fire dancers were amazing....back to the real world today once we unpack the vehicles, then back to all your dolls....
From 67 down to about 58 now....hang in there my poppets, working as fast as 2 hands can 💜

For any of my wonderfully patient Poppets waiting for their dolly/teddy's return....my aim is to get as many home by Xmas as I physically can....
2 major medieval events have clobbered the end of November (as well as myself.)
Come Dec 1st...full steam ahead 🚂🚂🚂
