I love this teaching from Ram Dass. The notion that you are not your physical body nor are you your role in society. Ideas that appear to be so central to and perpetuated by our fast-pased, consumer-driven modern society.

You are atoms made of matter that are part of the universe. YOU are part of the universe 🌠 Just like everything else that the human eye can and can't perceive. How's that for some perspective?

Since I've been on my yoga journey, I have found that I sweat the small stuff wayyy less than I used to. I feel more grounded, more aware of how I respond to emotions and feelings. More sure of my place in the world and the journey I'm on. Practicing Yoga has a way of doing that...providing perspective πŸ§˜πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

πŸ’« Practicing non-attachment, Aparigraha, is one of the five moral disciplines (yamas) of yoga. And that's exactly what it takes... practice. But when you experience that non-attachment, whether it be to thoughts, feelings, material things, even for a moment, the perspective you gain and the feeling of calm and space can be so comforting and life affirming. I'm still learning and practicing non-attachment in my life. Yoga is a journey, not a destination πŸ’«
