I rarely show my face here and never use my voice (who does actually like the sound of their own voice?!) Anyway, this is a first for me, hope you don’t mind listening to my very Aussie accent!

A life update. It has been such a whirlwind of a year so far for us, with less time and much less space available to do what I love doing - making soap.
We have had our property in the beautiful Otway ranges for 4 years now, with the plan to one day move here permanently. Well that day finally arrived in May!

After getting our house of 20 years ready for sale at the start of the year and having an auction campaign, my making and curing spaces reverted back to bedrooms and car spaces. No room and no time to make soap!

There is still lots to do at our new place, but we have almost finished my new soap making studio, a dedicated space where I will be able to make, cure and store all my soap and skincare products together, instead of being scattered all around & taking over our whole house like they have been the last 5 years.
I can’t wait to show you all my new soap making space once it is all finished!

Life takes us down paths we never dreamt of sometimes!
🤔Did you know? I have been a registered nurse for 33 years, working in Orthopaedics and later in various Nursing Education roles.
I had always loved my vocation, until one day a few years ago, I realised I just didn’t anymore. The pandemic really shifted my thinking, and I felt I needed a break.

I had been keen to try making my own soap for a while and during various lockdowns (where in my role I never got to work from home obviously!) I used my new hobby as a mental release at home from what was happening locally and globally.

I absolutely fell in love with the whole process and felt proud that I could make something lovely, and useful, for my family and friends.
My little business sprang up from there, mainly because I loved making soap so much and now had heaps of it, & I was also encouraged by everyone who used it & loved it, to try selling it.

If you told me 5 years ago I would be running my own natural skincare business and not nursing, I’d have just laughed and said no way!

If you have ever sold up and moved house, you’ll know how hectic, even chaotic it can be.

We’ve just done that very thing last week, & apart from getting our house shipshape, we’re still trying to get my new soap space finished so that I can unpack my equipment & get back to making.

Although I won’t have power connected to my soap room for another month, we’ve made great progress on my benches this week & with a long power cord, I hope to crank out a loaf of soap soon.
