Rowing Geelong is a regional association of rowing clubs and schools tasked with managing regattas and the rowing environment on the Barwon River.
Rowing Geelong was founded in 1875 by the two Geelong-based rowing clubs (Barwon Rowing Club and the Corio Bay Rowing Club), and also includes the various rowing schools. Geelong Grammar and The Geelong College each have large co-educational rowing programs with sheds on the riverbank, but other schools including Sacred Heart College, Kardinia International College, and Clonard College, also run rowing programs in Geelong. Rowing Geelong's main purpose is to act as the single local rowing body which manages the conduct and training rules for rowing on the Barwon, and also manages rowing regattas which are held on the Barwon. Some of the regattas, such as the Barwon Regatta normally held in late January of each year, are hosted by Rowing Geelong itself, while other regattas are operated by Rowing Geelong for other rowing clubs and schools. Rowing Geelong also serves as the body responsible for the overall interaction of the rowing community and other river users through the Barwon River Users Group, coordinating the calendar of events between the Barwon Valley Water Ski Club, the Geelong Canoe Club, and other users. Rowing Geelong is a rowing organization affiliated with Rowing Victoria, the head organization for rowing in Victoria, which is itself aligned with the national rowing body, Rowing Australia. The Geelong rowing clubs and schools make up the membership of Rowing Geelong, along with individual members of the Association. An Executive being the President, Secretary and Treasurer, manages the day to day finances, communication, and management of Rowing Geelong.
