Surgery is just one part of the journey. The condition of your skin before a procedure and how it heals afterwards can also play an important role in your overall experience.

At Advanced Aesthetics, our laser and skin treatment team works closely with our surgical team to provide personalised treatment plans that may complement your surgical care.

Prior to surgery, treatments may be recommended to help improve skin quality and support overall skin health. Following surgery, selected treatments can be incorporated into a post-procedure plan to assist with skin recovery and scar management.

Every patient is different, which is why recommendations are tailored to your individual goals, skin concerns and treatment journey. If you're considering a surgical procedure, ask our team how our skin and laser services may be incorporated into your treatment plan.

Not all cosmetic providers are the same and it's worth knowing the difference before you book a consultation. "Cosmetic surgeon" isn't a protected medical title in Australia. A specialist Plastic Surgeon, however holds FRACS Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons following years of dedicated surgical training
Dr Dilip Gahankari is a Specialist Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, FRACS. You can check any practitioner's registration and qualifications for free on the public AHPRA register at ahpra.gov.au.

It's a simple step, and one of the most important ones you can take when researching your options. Questions about Dr Gahankari's qualifications or experience? Call our team on 5539 4611.

Acne may resolve, but for some people scarring can remain long after their breakouts have settled.

Understanding the type of scarring is an important first step in determining suitable treatment options. Depending on your skin concerns and individual assessment, treatment pathways may include options such as:
✔️ Fractional skin resurfacing
✔️ Skin needling
✔️ Medical-grade LED therapy
✔️ Chemical peels
✔️ A tailored skincare plan

In some cases, a combination approach may be recommended depending on the type of scarring, skin condition and desired treatment goals. As every individual is different, suitability, risks, expected outcomes and treatment timelines can vary.

Our team of Registered Nurses provide free personalised skin consultations to help guide treatment planning based on your individual needs. To learn more or book a consultation, contact us on (07) 5539 4611 or visit www.advancedaesthetics.com.au

As the weather cools down, winter is often considered a popular time to explore treatments such as fractional skin resurfacing.

Why? Following treatment, skin can be more sensitive to sun exposure, making consistent sun protection especially important. With many people spending less time outdoors during winter, this season can suit treatment timing and recovery for some patients.

Fractional skin resurfacing may be considered for concerns including skin texture, sun damage, pigmentation, fine lines and acne scarring, however suitability and downtime can vary depending on your skin type, concerns and treatment plan.

A consultation with one of our Registered Nurses is the best way to determine whether treatment may be appropriate for your skin and goals.

If you're considering a surgical treatment, a pre-surgery consultation gives you an important opportunity to ask questions, understand your options and make an informed decision. Some helpful questions to consider asking during a surgical consultation include:

✔️ Am I a suitable candidate for this procedure?
✔️ What are the risks and potential complications?
✔️ What does recovery typically involve?
✔️ What results may be achievable for me?
✔️ Are there alternative treatment options?
✔️ What should I expect before and after surgery?
✔️ What qualifications and experience does my surgeon have?

A comprehensive consultation should involve a discussion around your goals, medical history, suitability, risks, benefits and alternatives, with time to ask questions and ensure you feel informed.

At Advanced Aesthetics, Dr Dilip Gahankari, Specialist Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon, takes the time to guide patients through the consultation process and answer questions so they can make decisions based on informed medical advice.

For over 20 years, Dr Dilip Gahankari has dedicated part of his Christmas break to providing reconstructive surgery and medical support to underserved communities in India.

Travelling to remote regions where access to specialist surgical care can be limited, Dr Dilip works alongside teams of surgeons, nurses and healthcare professionals to help patients living with burns, congenital conditions, trauma and other complex reconstructive needs.

This work is deeply important to Dr Dilip and reflects a long-standing commitment to helping improve access to care for those who may otherwise go without.

We’re proud to share that this humanitarian work is now being documented in Syndemic, is featured in a documentary exploring the global disparities in access to surgical care and the life-changing impact of medical aid programs. Filmmaker Woodrow Wilson first documented Dr Dilip’s work in rural India in 2015, beginning a journey to tell the stories of patients, clinicians and communities affected by limited access to surgery.

We are deeply honoured to share that Dr Dilip has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in recognition of nearly two decades of plastic and reconstructive surgical work alongside a devoted team of volunteers and the two thousand patients whose lives were changed because they kept coming back.

In his own words:
“I am grateful and deeply humbled. The people who deserve this alongside me have been on the plane with me every Christmas, in villages most people wouldn’t find on a map. From a small town in India to a practice on the Gold Coast, I have never walked that road alone. This award belongs to every one of them.” - Dr Dilip

At Advanced Aesthetics, every member of our Medi-Clinic team is a Registered Nurse, because qualifications, training and patient safety matter.

What does this mean for your care?

Our Registered Nurses have completed formal university training and are regulated healthcare professionals, bringing a strong understanding of anatomy, skin health, infection control and patient care to every consultation and treatment.

Being overseen by an on-site Specialist Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr Dilip Gahankari, also means our team can work collaboratively across both surgical and non-surgical treatment pathways where appropriate.
