🩸 PRP vs PRF: because apparently your blood has a skincare routine now.

Yes, I take your blood.
No, I haven’t become a vampire. 😂

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) use components from your own blood to support your body’s natural repair and renewal processes.

✨ PRP: I take a small amount of blood, spin it in a centrifuge and collect the platelet-rich portion. Platelets contain growth factors - think of them as tiny messengers telling your body: “Oi, there’s work to do here.”

🧬 PRF: Similar idea, but prepared differently so a natural fibrin scaffold forms. This holds onto platelets and allows growth factors to be released over time.

Basically:
PRP: “Repair crew, get in there.” 🏃‍♀️
PRF: “Repair crew, I’ve organised accommodation. Stay a while.” 😂

Cooktown and the Southern Cape will always have a very special place in my heart. Of everywhere I’ve worked throughout my nursing career, it remains my absolute favourite - the people, the communities, the scenery and some of the best memories of my career were made up there❤️

So knowing that all of this pedalling, sweating, fundraising and voluntarily riding bicycles up enormous hills is helping fund vital equipment for the people of Cairns and the Cape makes it even more special.

I personally prefer to support the Cardiac Challenge in a way that does not require my cardiac system to be challenged, so I’ll be cheering enthusiastically from a safe distance. 😂
