Coming to the salon is not only about looking your best, it is about feeling your best in your own skin.
đŞ MY 2 CENTS WORTHâŚ
Well, apparently my recent skincare post stirred the pot a little. đ
A couple of people even announced they were unfollowing meâwhich is perfectly fine. This isnât an airport⌠you donât need to announce your departure. âď¸đ
You absolutely do not have to agree with everything I post. Iâm always happy to hear different opinions and have a respectful discussion.
But if youâre going to tell me Iâm wrong, please bring some actual facts with youânot something your neighbourâs cousin heard, a random Facebook video, or âIâve done it for years and Iâm fine.â đ¤Śââď¸
I have worked with skin for over 40 years. Iâll happily listen, learn and admit when Iâm wrongâbut opinions and personal experiences are not scientific evidence.
Disagree with me? No problem.
Back it up with credible facts and we can have a great conversation. Throw a tantrum and dramatically unfollow me? Well⌠I hope the door doesnât damage your skin barrier on the way out. đđŞ
As always, thatâs just MY 2 CENTS WORTH. đŞ

đŞ MY 2 CENTS WORTHâŚ
Is anyone else completely confused by social media?
Drink more water.
Donât drink too much water.
Walk 10,000 stepsâor apparently a million.
Eat this. Donât eat that.
Take this pill. Use this serum.
Rub snail slime on your face. đ
OH MY GOD⌠itâs exhausting! đ
Then we have beautiful 20-something influencers with perfect skin telling us how to look younger.
Of course they look youngâthey are young! We looked like that at their age too⌠we just didnât have filters, ring lights or a bloody camera following us around. đ
Social media can be wonderful, but it can also make us feel like weâre not doing enough or that weâre somehow not enough.
Please donât let someone elseâs carefully edited life make you feel inadequate.
They may not have children hanging off their legs, a house to clean, dinner to cook, a business or job to runâand a husband calling out, âCan you give me a hand with the sheep?â just as you finally sit down. đđ
Meanwhile, weâre out here working, cooking, cleaning, raising families, drenching cattle, chasing sheep and trying to remember whether we drank enough bloody water!
We donât need to be perfect.
We donât need to follow every trend.
And we certainly donât need to look 25 forever.
Embrace who you are, where you are and the life youâve built.
Because country women are strong, capable, realâand slightly tired. đ
COUNTRY WOMEN ROCK. đŞâ¤ď¸
Thatâs my 2 cents worth. đŞ

đ¨ STILL THINK IâM A PAIN IN THE ARSE ABOUT SUNSCREEN? đ¨
Good. Iâll keep being one.
This beautiful client has kindly allowed me to share what years of sun exposure can eventually lead to.
What youâre seeing is her skin reacting to a prescribed chemotherapy cream used to treat sun-damaged and abnormal cells.
Not a fancy facial.
Not a peel.
Not âjust a bit of sun damage.â
CHEMOTHERAPY CREAM.
We all thought a tan looked healthy. We used baby oil, cooked ourselves in the sun and said, âI never burn.â
Well⌠apparently the sun was keeping receipts.
So when I go on and on about SPF 50+, this is why. Use it every dayâand donât stop at your face. Protect your neck, chest, ears and hands too.
Sunscreen is not just about wrinkles or looking younger. It could help save your skin.
Still think you donât need it?
Iâll wait. đł
Thank you to my very brave client for allowing me to share this important reminder. â¤ď¸

Pregnancy can change your skin⌠and then your skin may change all over again after your baby arrives.
Some women get that beautiful pregnancy glow.
Others get:
⢠Breakoutsâeven if theyâve never had acne before
⢠Dryness, oiliness or sensitivity
⢠Redness and itching
⢠Darker freckles or pigmentation
⢠Melasmaâbrown patches often appearing on the forehead, cheeks or upper lip
⢠Stretch marks as the skin expands
Then the baby arrives, your hormones shift again, youâre exhausted, probably forgetting to drink waterâand your skin may become dull, dry, sensitive or start breaking out. Because apparently caring for a newborn wasnât quite enough. đ
So, what should you use?
Keep your routine gentle and simple:
⢠A mild cleanser
⢠A nourishing moisturiser
⢠A hydrating serum, such as hyaluronic acid
⢠Vitamin C or azelaic acid, if suitable for your skin
⢠A mineral SPF 30 or higher containing zinc oxide or titanium dioxideâevery single day
Avoid retinol and other retinoids during pregnancy. Before using strong acids, acne treatments or pigmentation products, check with your doctor and have your routine reviewed by a qualified skincare professionalâespecially while pregnant or breastfeeding.
Some pigmentation and other changes may settle after birth, while others can hang around longer.
Be gentle. Be consistent. And rememberâyour body has just created an entire human. Your skin deserves a little patience too. đ

LYDIAâS METHOD #6
What is my skin type?
This question confuses nearly everyoneâand honestly, your skin doesnât always make it easy!
It can be oily on Monday, dry by Wednesday and throwing a complete tantrum by Friday. Welcome to skincare đ
Letâs make it simpleâŚ
Dry skin produces less natural oil. It may feel tight, rough or flaky and can make fine lines look more noticeable.
Oily skin produces more oil. It can look shiny, have larger-looking pores and may be more prone to congestion and breakouts.
Combination skin is a bit greedy and wants to be everything at once! Usually oily through the forehead, nose and chin, but normal or dry around the cheeks.
Normal skin is generally balancedânot too oily, not too dry. Yes, these lucky people do exist!
Sensitive skin can become red, itchy, stingy or irritated easily. Products, weather, heat and even stress can set it off.
But hereâs where it gets confusingâŚ
Your skin type is what your skin naturally is, while a skin condition is what it may be experiencing at that particular time.
You can have oily skin that is dehydrated.
You can have dry skin with breakouts.
You can have combination skin that is also sensitive.
Hormones, menopause, medications, weather, stress and using the wrong products can all change how your skin behaves.
This is why copying your friendâs skincare routineâor buying whatever someone on TikTok is waving aroundâmay not end well. Her skin isnât your skin!
Before spending a fortune on another âmiracleâ product, find out what your skin actually needs.
Because skincare isnât one-size-fits-allâŚand neither are bras, jeans or husbands đ
Thatâs Lydiaâs Method #6 đ
This one is for the people who donât use skincare⌠I want to know WHY.
Is it because:
You donât know what to use?
You donât know what order to use it in?
Youâve tried products before and nothing worked?
You think itâs too expensive?
You simply canât be bothered? đ
Or have you just never used skincareâand wouldnât know where to start?
No judgement whatsoever. Iâm genuinely curious!
Skincare doesnât need to mean 15 products, three serums, a face roller and a degree in chemistry.
Sometimes, two simple products in the morning and two at night are all you need.
So tell me honestlyâwhatâs stopping you? đ
If you have perfect skin, this post isnât for you.
Actually⌠you may as well keep scrolling, because Iâve never met anyone with perfect skin. đ
Real skin has pores.
Real skin has texture.
Real skin gets pimples, pigmentation, dryness, redness and wrinkles.
Some days it glowsâand other days it looks like itâs been dragged through a paddock backwards.
My job isnât to give you âperfectâ skin.
My job is to help you understand the skin you have and make it the healthiest, happiest version it can be.
No filters.
No impossible promises.
No making you feel bad about getting older.
Just honest advice, the right treatments and skincare that works for you.
Because perfect skin doesnât existâbut confident women certainly do.
