Last night was a big ‘pinch me!’ Moment. Being shortlisted for Sole Operator OTY for AHIA MochaHair / AHIA is a big deal. For me at least.

Years of imposter syndrome. Telling myself i’m just fluk-ing it. Its luck. This little moment will come and go and ill have to be ready to go back to employment.

I have attempted this entry twice before. And each time I scrapped it. ‘Not this year, when youre actually successful!’

The thing is though, that this year I entered truly believing it wouldn’t happen. And I was very okay with that.
However, now that i’m on the other side, as a finalist, it feels incredibly validating to be seen by the industry.

It can mean a lot to prove someone wrong. But it can mean even more so when you prove yourself wrong.

Using a carefully placed foiling technique, the greys were softly blended and incorporated into the overall colour palette rather than completely covered. This created natural dimension, added brightness around the face and allowed for a softer grow-out between appointments.

The result is a fresh, wearable colour that works beautifully with the hair’s natural tones.

I am so many things. But this new ‘chic’ trend has really gotten me thinking.
I am not an elegant swan who graces every challenge with sophistication.
Im quite messy. I find myself in situations I could have avoided if i wasnt a people pleaser.
I just wanted to learn colour theory and chemistry and got dealt hair salon trauma instead.
People have put road blocks in front of me, and I can acknowledge that I pushed through them every single time.
But it wasnt very chic. Or elegant. It was a lot of work.

Im proud of the business ive built. And im so excited for CLIFTON HILL CO - WORKING HAIR SALON to open.
But im not a mastermind. And Im a little messy. With the best of intentions x.
