Rotherham man takes part in "gamechanger" MS treatment trial Numan Unees is the first MS patient in Sheffield to trial a new immunotherapy treatment.

Today at Parliament House, MS Australia is taking the concerns of people living with MS directly to the Australian Parliament.

CEO Rohan Greenland, National Policy Manager Katie Snell and Lived Experience Expert Panel member Rachel Kerr appeared before the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee as it examines the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026.

Our message is clear: MS Australia supports reforms that strengthen the integrity, fairness and sustainability of the NDIS—but sustainability must never come at the expense of necessary supports, participant rights, independence or wellbeing.

We urged the Committee to ensure the Bill:

➡️ keeps individual need, choice and control at the centre of every decision
➡️ recognises that MS is complex, progressive, fluctuating and often invisible
➡️ protects access to essential supports and does not assume families and carers can fill the gaps
➡️ requires genuine co-design and consultation with people with disability and Disability Representative Organisations
➡️ is backed by comprehensive training for NDIA staff before major changes commence.

The NDIS can and should be strengthened, but without reducing the rights, independence or wellbeing of people with disability.

Reform must be transparent, evidence-based, informed by lived experience and supported by safeguards that recognise the reality of MS and other neurological conditions.
