Irregular periods are the sign everyone knows to look for.
They are also often the last one to arrive.
Before that: sleep that breaks at 3am, a short fuse, joint aches, brain fog, anxiety that was never there before. Years of it sometimes, while the calendar still looks completely normal.
Which is how so many women end up being told they are too young for this.
Recognising the early pattern is what gets you to a plan sooner.

Look who's at Complete Care Pharmacy Rosny Park.
I've teamed up with fellow Nurse Practitioner Kris, and we're now seeing patients in person, Monday to Friday, for the everyday things. The sore throat that won't shift. The wound that needs a proper look. The certificate for work. The repeat script.
If you're a Menopause & Me patient, nothing changes for you. This is the other part of my working week, the everyday care I've always done, now with its own home. My Menopause & Me hours stay exactly as they are.
It's called My Health & Me, and it's for anyone who needs to be seen, not just women in menopause.
In person at Rosny Park and Telehealth Australia-wide.
Follow along at My Health & Me ❤️
Welcome to My Health & Me.
We are an episodic care clinic run by two Nurse Practitioners, Jenna and Kris, from Complete Care Pharmacy Rosny Park at 1/8 Bayfield Street, Rosny Park, with telehealth appointments as well.
Episodic care means the everyday things. A sore throat that will not shift. A wound that needs a proper look. A certificate for work. A repeat script. A rash that is not settling.
Appointments are open. Tap the link in our bio to book a time that suits you.
Same diet. Same exercise. Different body.
Weight change through perimenopause is not a willpower problem. Shifting oestrogen changes where your body stores fat and how you hold muscle. Broken sleep then changes your appetite and energy the next day. It compounds.
Which is why "eat less, move more" so often lands badly. It is not addressing what actually changed.
This deserves a proper assessment, not a lecture.

Perimenopause does not wait for a convenient appointment slot.
It turns up at 3am, on your fifth night awake in a row, when you are well past the point of pretending you are fine.
Menopause & Me runs online, Australia wide. Perimenopause, menopause and weight management, from wherever you are, with a Nurse Practitioner who has the time to go through it properly.
Booked around your life, not the other way around.
Not all hormone journeys are the same. Yours deserves a plan that reflects that.

Your symptoms are one part of the picture. They are not the whole of it.
A consultation goes through your symptoms and menstrual history, current medications, lifestyle, medical history, and any recent bloods that are relevant, if you have them.
Then we talk options. What the evidence supports. The benefits, the risks, and what actually fits your circumstances and your preferences.
Not all hormone journeys are the same. I promise you, everyone's journey is different, and the plan has to reflect that.
You deserve the time to work through all of it properly.

Wondering whether this is perimenopause, or whether it is something else entirely?
You are not being dramatic and you are not imagining it.
Perimenopause overlaps with a long list of other conditions, which is exactly why it gets missed. The brain fog gets called ADHD. The exhaustion gets called stress. The low mood gets called depression. The weight change gets called willpower.
Sometimes those answers are correct. Sometimes they are correct and it is perimenopause as well. And sometimes women spend years treating one piece of the picture while the thing underneath it is never looked at.
Not everything belongs in the hormone bucket. Not everything belongs outside it either.
Looking at the whole picture is what a consultation is for, and it can be done online from wherever you are in Australia.

Nobody hands clinicians a seat at the table. You have to fill in a form for one.
Australia's new national menopause guidelines are being built right now, and the team behind them is explicitly asking for people who see this in practice, not just people who publish about it.
If you're a GP, a Nurse Practitioner, a nurse, allied health or anyone working in menopause care, and you've ever thought there's no clean answer for this yet about progesterone choice, testosterone access, or bleeding that won't settle, that's exactly the gap they're trying to close.
I have completed my survey and passed it on to colleagues, because a clinician's twenty minutes is worth more to this project than good intentions that never turn into a submission.
Clinicians deserve guidelines that reflect what we're actually seeing in the room. That only happens if we show up for it.
The clinician survey takes 10 to 15 minutes and closes 27 September.
There's a separate one for your patients with lived experience too. Link in bio. 🤍

Every hormone journey is different, but almost every one of them has been shaped by advice written somewhere else.
For years, Australian menopause care has run on guidelines built in the UK, Europe and North America. Good evidence. Just not built for our subsidised medicines, our prescribing rules or the supply issues that mean the medication that worked last month isn't on the shelf this month.
That's changing.
Australia is developing its first NHMRC-approved national guidelines for perimenopause and menopause care, led by the Australian Living Evidence Collaboration alongside Jean Hailes, the Australasian Menopause Society and the Endocrine Society of Australia.
I completed my survey this month, as a Nurse Practitioner who has this exact conversation most days. It took less time than I expected.
And here's the part I love. They don't just want clinicians and researchers. They want women who are actually living through this, telling them what it's really like.
Women deserve care built around them, not around whichever guideline happened to reach Australia first.
The survey takes 10 to 15 minutes and closes 27 September.

Most women get told they are too young for menopause while standing in the middle of perimenopause.
The two are not the same thing.
Perimenopause is the transition, and it can run for years before periods stop. Menopause is a single point in time, twelve months after your last period. Everything after that is postmenopause.
Knowing which stage you are in changes what your options look like.
That is not a small detail. It is the difference between being told to wait it out and walking away with a plan.

Waiting weeks for an appointment when you needed help this week?
That wait is the reason a lot of women stop chasing answers altogether.
A Nurse Practitioner can assess, diagnose, prescribe and refer. Menopause & Me runs Australia wide by telehealth for perimenopause, menopause and weight management, with proper time set aside to talk it through.
Not all hormone journeys are the same. Yours needs a plan built for you.
You deserve to be heard.
