Not only does Maya absolutely rock this luminous red... ❤️🔥

Every time she sits in my chair, she reminds me of something we adults often forget.

While her colour is marinating, the salon becomes her stage. She sings every lyric to her favourite artists, throws in the dance moves for good measure, and fills the room with laughter.

There's something beautifully contagious about someone who isn't worried about looking silly, getting it perfect, or what anyone else thinks. She simply embraces the moment with pure joy.

Thank you, Maya, for reminding me how easy it is to play, to laugh, and to not take life quite so seriously.

Oh... and this luminous red? It was made for you. ❤️✨

Mish-el has shed her wings
🪽🪽🪽

Today she's channeling her inner feminine warrior and has decided she's done with masking.🎭
I've tried explaining that standing in the shop window flipping the bird at passing traffic and pedestrians is probably not the most strategic business decision🤔
She remains unconvinced.

Apparently after carrying everyone's expectations, being agreeable, and behaving herself for far too long, she's embracing a new philosophy:
"Take up space. Tell the truth. Stop apologising for existing."
I'm not saying I endorse her methods...
I'm just saying I understand where she's coming from. 😉

If you ever want to indulge in some serious navel-gazing, Gwinganna is your place.

The food is incredible.
The surroundings are stunning. The treatments are divine.

But don't be fooled by the beautiful packaging.
You still have to sit in the discomfort of your own s**t.

Turns out healing isn't all magnesium pools and wellness shots.🌴🍹🏝
Sometimes it's ugly crying after meditation, questioning your life choices, and realising the thing you've been trying to outrun has quietly followed you all the way to a luxury health retreat.

10/10. Highly recommend.
Would absolutely come here again to be lovingly confronted by myself."

Well... it turns out Mi-Shell wasn't content staying in the window.
After dark she slipped away, stretched her mussel-shell wings, and went wandering through Dark M**o.

She perched in playgrounds.
She lingered beneath old stone walls.
She basked in the red glow of winter nights.

For the past few weeks, Shellbound has lived in my salon window, but the truth is it was never really about the shells, the wings, or the display.

It was about remembering how to play.

At the beginning of this year, I set myself a simple intention: to reconnect with joy, curiosity, and the part of myself that had forgotten how to be playful.

Children don't need permission to imagine, explore, and create. Somewhere along the way, many of us forget.

So as Dark M**o draws to a close and Shellbound begins its next chapter, Mi-Shell leaves behind a gentle reminder:

Never stop being curious.
Never stop creating.
And never outgrow your sense of wonder.

Some creations begin to take on a life of their own.

What started as Shellbound has now been spotted wandering the streets of Dark M**o.

If you met her, what would you call her?

SHELLBOUND

At the beginning of this year, I made a promise to myself:
To return to play.
Somewhere between responsibility, survival, and becoming an adult, I forgot that joy requires practice.
Children know this instinctively. They create. They imagine. They explore.

Inspired by Tasmania's wild coastlines and created from hundreds of gathered mussel shells, Shellbound became more than a window installation.
It became a reminder.
To remain curious. To remain playful. To never become so protected that we stop growing.

Now on display at Ally Nischler Hair during Dark M**o.

Winter is calling and for once… I’m actually listening ❄️

Just a little heads up that the salon will be closed from June 1st–14th while I take two weeks to reset the nervous system, indulge in some quality naval gazing at a wellness retreat, explore a few creative ideas and attempt to integrate some of what I’ve been learning into everyday life.

There’s every chance I’ll return slightly more enlightened…
or go completely off-grid and join an Ashram.
(Then again… I do have a mortgage and children, so reality keeps me grounded😉

I’ll be back on the tools from June 15th feeling refreshed, re-inspired and ready to create.

Please jump onto the online booking link to secure your spot while I’m away ✨

Thank you all for your continued support, patience and beautiful conversations — see you on the other side of winter hibernation. 🤍

PS-( I will endeavour to reply to calls and messages from the 15th of June)
Appointments are filling fast for the months ahead, so to avoid disappointment please jump online.)

Twelve months of shape, texture and rebellion.
Classic lines softened.
Edges pushed
Colour placed with intention — to catch light, create shadow, spark drama.

Inspired by the ghosts of retro — s**g silhouettes, mullet movement, 90’s attitude —
reworked for now.
Every cut a collaboration.
Every colour a statement.
Always about the individual.
Always about freedom of expression.

Hair as art, and like every canvas it's an opportunity to play and not take ourselves so seriously.
