Ipswich Therapy Centre- Helping you live, rest & play! In July 2017 Deb had a great idea to start a therapy service that had a heart.
Since that time Ipswich Therapy Centre has grown quickly to the service we are today. Deb now has a team of 10 Occupational Therapists, 4 Support Coordinators and 3 administrative staff. Our principal Occupational Therapist Deb is committed to achieving quality outcomes through a holistic approach which includes therapy, support and advocacy. Here at Ipswich Therapy Centre we provide services to children, teens, young adults & elderly people. We have Occupational Therapists who come from all different backgrounds & are always interested in broadening their experience. Each one of our Occupational Therapists specialise in something different so we can guarantee we will have the right OT for you. Our Support Co-ordinators also come from diverse backgrounds & all of their previous experience has shaped them into the Support Co-Ordinators they are now & they are all very valuable members of Ipswich Therapy Centre. Ipswich Therapy Centre is a very family orientated practice, we love to collaborate with families & carers to work together to help your loved ones. From time to time we run events & love including our clients in a group setting, in addition to one on one therapy sessions. Ipswich Therapy Centre is a new and innovative practice designed around the concept of live, rest & play. We accept all referrals including Private, EPC Plans, DVA and are NDIS registered.
Ipswich Therapy Centre turned 9 years old today!

🧩 Why do Occupational Therapists use LEGO in sessions?
Because it's so much more than just building!
A few weeks ago, one of our amazing clients completed this fantastic LEGO creation, and we couldn't let the moment pass without celebrating their achievement!
Throughout the build, they demonstrated incredible perseverance, determination and problem-solving. There were times when the task became challenging, but they continued to work through each step, adapted when needed, and experienced the rewarding sense of accomplishment that comes from achieving a goal through persistence.
While LEGO is fun, it is also an incredibly valuable Occupational Therapy tool that supports the development of many important skills, including:
🧩 Fine motor strength and hand dexterity
🧩 Bilateral coordination (using both hands together)
🧩 Visual perception and visual-motor integration
🧩 Attention, concentration and sustained focus
🧩 Executive functioning skills, including planning, organising, sequencing and problem-solving
🧩 Following multi-step instructions
🧩 Frustration tolerance, resilience and flexible thinking
🧩 Confidence and self-esteem through achieving meaningful goals
Every brick placed represents so much more than a step in the build—it reflects persistence, learning, resilience and growing independence.
A huge congratulations to our wonderful client! Your determination, patience and willingness to keep trying, even when things became tricky, were inspiring to watch. We are incredibly proud of everything you achieved and can't wait to see what challenge you tackle next! 👏💙
