✨ If you’ve been in the salon recently, you would have heard me talking about entering the yesterday… and what an incredible day it was! ✨

It has been ten years since I last competed in a nail competition. In that time, I’ve been on the other side of the table, judging the last two Brisbane Hair & Beauty Expo nail comps. Like so many things, Covid shifted the industry — with more technicians learning online and expos struggling to regain momentum.

Yesterday, though, was different. Charlotte and her team brought GNDA back in such a powerful way. The floor was buzzing with creativity, courage, and community. The judging panel was filled with some of the best competitors Australia has ever seen — artists who helped shape me into the nail technician I am today.

There are moments in this work that go far beyond nails.
Recently, one of my beautiful long-time clients — who has also become a dear friend — arrived for her appointment… in active labour. This wasn’t the first time she’s done this either. Nails are her thing — her ritual, her reset, her way of anchoring herself in moments of intensity and transition.

For her, it’s the best kind of distraction. For me, it’s an honour I’ll never take lightly.

To be trusted to hold space in these intimate, powerful thresholds — not just for a nail service, but for the deep emotional and energetic moments that life brings — it means everything.

I’m so grateful for the women who walk through my door and allow me into their lives. The quiet confessions, the belly laughs, the tears, the transformations… the births. This is sacred work.
