There has been a concerning increase in counterfeit products being imported from unhygienic, unverified third-party suppliers. It has become such an issue that some authorised suppliers have now introduced verification stickers to help confirm product authenticity.

I’ve also noticed an increase in DIY purchasing, with patients sourcing products online — including products that require a prescription — from who knows where, and then asking me to inject them.

The answer will always be **no**.

I cannot and will not inject a product of unknown origin. I don’t know how it has been manufactured, stored, transported, handled, whether it is genuine, or even whether what’s on the label is actually what’s inside.

Saving a few dollars is simply not worth gambling with your health or the potential complications.

When I inject a product, I take professional responsibility for what I am administering. That means I need to know exactly where it has come from and that it has been sourced through the appropriate authorised channels.

Your safety is not an area where I’m prepared to compromise.
