My first home birth . Wow . This is what birth is designed to be in its most pure, raw, natural, physiological form. Watching this mama in her safe, sacred home environment with her birth team behind her was such a beautiful and timeless experience.

There is something special about choosing and creating your own affirmations for birth, you are able feel as well as read the words, connect to them and create a reality with them .

Watching the goddesses go within , adjust their bodies to suit the rotation of baby, sway and moan through the surges, connect with their baby, push out the worldly thoughts and fears and press inward. Something that is viewed as panicky, scary , fearful, painful and gross, is oh so the opposite. If only women knew what they were capable of, if only women knew what kind of an experience it can be- bringing your child forth into this world.

A private midwife was an investment for this mama, arriving to the hospital ready to push , catching her own baby , birthing her placenta and leaving it in tact for as long as she wanted . I wish more and more women could see that birth can be stunning, raw, powerful, beautiful, surreal and magical! This photo epitomises this beauty and her journey. 🤴

:HANDS-OFF: This photo not only captures the absolute gratitude and joy of a mother holding her fresh baby for the first time earthside , but also depicts a hospital system that SUPPORTED this mama!! This was a vbac birth, a prepared and educated mama who had done her research and trusted the process whatever the outcome and surrendered despite some battles. No VE on arrival, no continuous monitoring ( Doppler intermittently), no cannula , no drugs, declined GBS swabs and didn’t want to be watched my everyone during her short and empowering labour.Did the medical staff follow their guidelines ? Yes. They told her what they were meant to do or what they would like to do to her but ultimately left that choice up to her as it is her human right. The gratitude in which took place after baby was passed straight to mama was such an honour to watch , I was moved to tears!
