Dehydrated skin doesn't need more product. It needs the right steps.
We're not just slapping on more moisture and hoping it sticks. Every step is chosen to actually support hydration: ingredients that draw water in, and treatment steps that help your barrier hold onto it instead of letting it evaporate straight back out.
Because more product isn't the fix if your skin can't keep hold of what it's given.
Book in and let's get your skin properly hydrated, not just temporarily.
Reagan's putting some dehydrated skin myths to the test.
Oily skin can't be dehydrated? False. Dehydration is about water, not oil, so even oily skin can be running dry underneath. Drinking more water fixes dehydrated skin on its own? Helps, but it's not the whole story, what you put on your skin matters just as much as what you drink.
Watch above and comment below how many you got right.
Science of Skin: Why "just add more hydration" doesn't fix dehydrated skin.
There's a reason drowning your skin in hydrating serums doesn't always work, you can add all the water you want, but if your barrier can't hold onto it, it's gone as fast as you put it on.
Hydration isn't just about getting water in. It's about keeping it there.
Watch the full breakdown above.
Let's Talk Skin: Is your skin dehydrated or just dry?
Common mix-up, and it matters more than you'd think. Dry skin lacks oil. Dehydrated skin lacks water, and here's the part that surprises people, even oily skin can be dehydrated.
Signs to look out for: skin that feels tight not long after cleansing, fine lines that look more obvious some days than others, or a dull, flat look no matter what you put on it. It's usually caused by things like not drinking enough water, harsh cleansers stripping moisture, hot showers, or too much sun and wind exposure.
The fix isn't more oil-based product if oil was never the problem. It's about getting water back into the skin and helping it stay there, which looks different depending on your actual skin type.
If you're not sure which one you're dealing with, that's exactly what a proper consultation sorts out.
Book in and let's find out what your skin's actually missing.
We don't hand you a product list before we know what your skin's actually dealing with.
Every treatment and product we recommend is chosen with your skin barrier in mind because the wrong active at the wrong time, or too many actives at once, can do more damage than good, even when the ingredients themselves are good ones. That's the risk with guessing.
This is exactly why it starts with a proper consultation and skin analysis. We look at what your barrier's actually doing before we plan anything.
Nothing rushed, nothing guessed.
Book in for a consultation and let's build a plan around what your skin actually needs.
Some of your "skincare routine" might actually be working against your skin barrier.
A lot of what feels helpful, hot water, a good scrub, layering on every active you own, isn't doing your barrier any favours. Simplifying things when your skin's irritated genuinely helps.
Your barrier's the thing keeping moisture in and irritants out. It's worth protecting properly, not just when it's already struggling.
Book in a skin consultation and analysis so we can determine a plan to protect your skin.

Not every facial supports your skin barrier. Ours is built to.
We've talked a lot lately about the skin barrier, the system that keeps moisture in and irritants out, and how easily it gets disrupted by the wrong product, too many actives, or a routine that doesn't actually suit your skin. A facial that ignores all of that isn't doing your barrier any favours, no matter how nice it feels for the hour.
That's why every facial here starts with a proper consultation and analysis first. We look at what your barrier's actually doing before deciding what your skin needs.
Done properly, a facial should support your skin's repair, not undo it.
Book in for a consultation, analysis, and facial, and let's actually look after your barrier while we're at it.
What are we actually repairing when we "repair the skin barrier"?
Short version: it's cells, lipids, and a microbiome working together; if we disrupt that system, dryness, sensitivity, and irritation follow.
Your stratum corneum, the outermost layer of your epidermis, works kind of like a brick wall. The corneocytes are the bricks, and a lipid matrix of ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids holds them together. That combination is what keeps essential water in and irritants out.
There's another layer to this, too: your skin microbiome, a community of microorganisms sitting on the surface that works alongside the stratum corneum to keep everything balanced. When either part of this system is disrupted, dryness, sensitivity, irritation, and water loss start to show up.
So "repairing the barrier" isn't just a beauty buzzword. It's about supporting the stratum corneum, its lipids, and the microbiome together, because all three influence how your skin actually looks, feels, and functions.
Ask us how your barrier's holding up next time you're in.
Let's Talk Skin: what does a damaged skin barrier actually look like?
If your skin's been feeling tight, flaky, or randomly reactive to products that never used to bother you, that's usually your barrier talking.
A disrupted skin barrier tends to show up as redness, ongoing dryness no matter how much moisturiser you throw at it, a rough or uneven texture, and sometimes breakouts that don't behave like normal breakouts. It's easy to mistake for "bad skin days," but it's actually your skin's protective layer struggling to do its job: letting moisture out and irritants in.
The tricky part is that a lot of common fixes (more actives, more exfoliation) can actually make barrier damage worse, not better.
This is exactly why guessing isn't the move. Book in for a skin consultation and analysis, and we'll map out a plan built around repairing your barrier, not just calming it down temporarily.
We're starting something new, and we want you involved from day one.
From this week, we're running two weekly series here.
Let's Talk Skin is where we answer your questions, the things you've wondered about but never quite asked out loud, broken down properly, no jargon.
Science of Skin goes a layer deeper, breaking down the actual science behind what's happening in your skin. It explains the why behind the advice, not just the advice itself.
Two different ways into the same thing: understanding your skin properly so you can care for it in the right way.
Drop your questions in the comments below! Skin concerns, things you've read online and aren't sure are true, anything. We'll be pulling from these every week.
