How good is this!
Another belter of a multicellular storm gave Kununurra WA a good soaking yesterday. 110km/hr gusts has trees and powerlines down all over the town. These are like the storms of the good old days, proper gnarly!

Wow!
This month the Ivanhoe Crossing turns 65 🎉
The original concrete crossing over the Ord River north of Kununurra was opened in 1954 and was originally part of the main road through to Wyndham.
The crossing was constructed over 2 dry seasons and cost around £30,000 - about $1.5 million in today's money!
During construction in 1953 the use of 104 petrol drums (bottoms cut out) welded together to make the culvert pipes for the water to flow through - saved £6,000 ($300,000) worth of concrete.
Since the start of the Ord irrigation project in the 1960s, the remains in flow year round, particularly in the Wet season.

We loved our time in Dareton and feel blessed that we connected with so many beautiful souls during our visit!
