Do I eat this way pretty much all the time? Yep!...

Why? Because when I hit 35, things started hurting. A niggly knee, feeling tired, inflammation, thyroid issues... my body was screaming on the inside!

So I ditched the wheat, ditched the dairy, ditched the processed crap, ditched the numbers and started feeding my body real food!

The thing is, sugar feeds the bad bugs in our gut. Those little troublemakers then have us craving more of the foods that keep them happy! When we eat real, nourishing food, we feed the good guys instead. And those good bugs work their magic!

Most of our serotonin β€” our happy hormone β€” is made in the gut. A huge part of our immune system lives there too! So how can we say food doesn't matter?...

Fibre is a beautiful sweeper for the gut and helps keep things moving. Movement is just as important. Our muscles are like the body's waste collectors, helping move things along and clear out what doesn't serve us.

The body works as a whole. Nothing works in isolation. What we put in our mouth, how we move, how we sleep and how we manage stress all play a part.

I used to think feeling tired, bloated, sore and inflamed was normal. But just because it's common doesn't mean it's normal.

And remember, small changes do matter! You don't have to change everything overnight...
Swap one thing...
Add one good habit...
Take one step... It all adds up!

Do I miss my old way of eating? Nope. Am I happier? Yep. Do I have more energy? You bet!

Real food. Real movement = A happier, healthier you!

🌱 Sprouts all grown up!
These little guys were babies just over a week ago. After 5–6 days of growing, they're ready to go! πŸ₯¦

I freeze my broccoli and kale sprouts into Β½ cup portions and add Β½ cup to my morning smoothie... Yummmmm! Mung beans are kept fresh for my salads... crunch! Such an easy way to get my greens in for the day!

I still love watching the magic... tiny little seeds one week, a jar full of green goodness the next! 🌱

If you'd like to have a go yourself, check out Sprouted Australia for growing tips and inspiration. They also have sprouting kits available if you're just getting started (Bunnings Warehouse also stock the jars). *Nature's Works and The Organic Grocer stock the seeds but not sure about the jars.

Think of every cell in your body like a little car πŸš™πŸ’¨...

It needs fuel to run and just like a car, it creates waste that needs to be cleared out through the exhaust!... Even nutritious food gets converted into energy and leaves behind cellular waste!
Now imagine never servicing the car... πŸš™πŸ’¨

Too much sitting, not enough movement, low muscle mass, poor hydration, shallow breathing, stress, processed foods, medications, environmental toxins... eventually the body's "drainage system" starts to get a little congested, RIGHT?

Your lymphatic system is like your body's rubbish removal service. Unlike your heart, which has its own pump, your lymph relies on YOU to move it! Walking, stretching, deep breathing, sweating, muscle contractions and massage all help keep things flowing.

When everything starts backing up, fascia can become tight and sticky, circulation slows, nutrients have a harder time getting into cells and waste has a harder time getting out. That's when the body often starts whispering... with stiffness, aches, puffiness, fatigue and tension... unfortunately I see it all the time... our western world, hey!

The good news? Your body isn't broken. . . πŸ’š Most of the time it's simply asking for movement, hydration, rest, nourishment, deep breaths and a little helping hand to get things flowing again.

Move it. Breathe. Stretch. Sweat. Massage. Repeat!

🍝 QUICK CHUCK-IT-IN-A-BOWL CREAMY GREEN COCONUT EDAMAME SPAGHETTI 🍝

I'm not much of a kitchen lover... the less time I can spend in there, the better! πŸ˜†

I'm definitely more of a throw-it-all-together, mish-mash bowl kinda girl! This one is quick, easy, filling and packed with goodness! πŸ’ͺ🌱
1 serve Eco Organics Edamame Spaghetti
πŸ— Chicken - optional
πŸ₯¦ 1 cup Organic broccoli - rinse well
πŸ₯₯ 1-2 Tab. Ayam Coconut Cream Mingle Green Curry Spice
🍐 Pear
🌱 2 tsp-1 Tab. H**p Seeds ...

How I make it:

βœ”οΈ Cook the edamame spaghetti
βœ”οΈ In the last few minutes, chuck the broccoli in with the spaghetti
βœ”οΈ Drain
βœ”οΈ Stir through a spoonful or two of coconut cream and a sprinkle of Green Curry seasoning
βœ”οΈ Add cooked chicken if using
βœ”οΈ Just before serving, toss through a chopped pear and warm gently
βœ”οΈ Sprinkle with h**p seeds

Done! πŸ™Œ

πŸ’ͺ Around 40g of protein from one serve of edamame spaghetti

πŸ— Want even more protein? Add 100g of chicken (around 30g protein) and use half a serve of edamame spaghetti (around 20g protein) for a meal with 50+ grams of protein.

πŸ’‘ LITTLE IRON ABSORPTION TIP

The iron in edamame spaghetti is non-heme iron (plant-based iron). It's fantastic, but it isn't absorbed as easily as heme iron, the type found in animal foods.

πŸ₯¦ That's why I've added in broccoli!

Vitamin C helps your body absorb more of the iron from plant foods, so broccoli is doing more than just adding colour and crunch.

πŸ‹ Bonus points for a squeeze of lemon or lime over the top!

β˜• Try not to have tea or coffee with your meal, as they can reduce iron absorption.

πŸ₯› Large amounts of calcium can also compete with iron for absorption, so if you're working on improving your iron levels, it can be worth having calcium-rich foods at a different time of the day.
