Well Folks,

Another successful year, 2025 is in the bag!

A BIG thank you to the supporters of the shop, The parents that bring your kids in, the felllas that rely on me to sharpen them up for the night out, or your wedding, engagement, or just to remain married!! I truly enjoy learning about each and every one of you, and building lasting rapport, A place where you feel valued and comfortable, a place to speak your mind, and put the world to rights! and best of all, get a quality service. Your loyalty and constitent patronage doesn't go unnoticed or unappreciated.

With out you, there is no Barber G! It may be just a hair cut, beard trim or a shave to you, but to me it is a passion and a commitment to bring you the best service in Mackay.

You are all very much appreciated! So....Thank you, all. From myself, and my family.

We are now closed for the annual Christmas shutdown, and will return on the 12th of Jan ready for another year. I'm sorry I couldn't fit so many of you in, in the last few weeks leading up to the shutdown. I hate being the "Social Media Muppet" that has to inform you of the pending closure and dead line to get in for a trim....you know...."Before it's too late".....Hair cuts are never going to be life threatening, so next year I will simply do a short post early in the Christmas build up, so you can line yourself up for that Christmas trim. It will hopefully save some of you the dissapointment, and save the "last minute" jobs that do my best to cater for, it's just, there are only so many hours in a day!!!

On to next year, after 6 months of trading solo, and monitoring the bookings and listening to feed back for remainder of the year, I have made the decision to remove "Walk-in Wednesdays" from the line up. They either run smooth and are well paced, or they are crazy stupid with long wait times. I just don't like the unpredictability, i don't expect you to wait for 2 hours. It is not fair on you, or on me!

This will effect those amongst you that prefer the ad-hoc style of a Barbershop, and I appreciate this may not be to your liking. But, i have to act in the interest of the business and my health. I need to make this change so that I can continue to do what i do, and give you the best service in town.
I am sorry if this effects you, I do appreciate you. The shop has become bigger than i ever imagined it would be, so i am humbled, but simply can't please every one!.

Wednesdays will now be open for bookings, the same as the rest of the week.
The shop will be 100% by appointment only. 5 Days a week.

I have always been very transparent with you all regarding the business decisions, I will continue to be that way. I thank you for your undestanding and patience as I develop the business.

The book is already open for bookings in the new year, so text me if you would like to book a trim early in our return in 2026.

All that remains for me, is to wish each and every one of you a Happy Christmas, and very best of what 2026 will bring for you in the New Year.

Hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather? Fear not, I"m sure it will rain like usual on Christmas day!

Hi Folks,

Today we said goodbye to a long standing employee in the shop, Tyhleigha! "T" has decided that she is going to pursue an operating career in the mines.

Whilst this is a huge loss for the shop, we thank you for your dedication and work ethic over the last 3 almost 4 years, and we wish you the very best for the future, we will miss you, as i'm sure our customers will too.

In addition to this news, Felix has also decided she wants to move on and persue her qualification for Barbering. Felix has proven to be dedicated and hard working and will also be missed.

Like most businesses that employ staff, the constant labour rate changes and market challenges make it very difficult to be profitable. So moving forward at least for the current future I will be running the shop Solo, as it was in the beginning, except, As most of you are aware I currently run the Booking side of the business whilst the girls take care of the walk-in side of the shop.

The bookings will continue as they have with the exception to Wednesdays.
Wednesdays will become "Walk-In Wednesdays"

I am also considering closing Saturday mornings to provide a better work life balance for me and my family.

As with all business decisions, I will monitor the feeback and effectiveness of the changes as they roll out, and make changes as required.

For the next two weeks however, shop hours and set up remain the same.

I apoligise to those that will be affected by the changes to the business, but I will do my best to accomodate you, with the new set up.

Just to let you know that the shop will be closed this coming Easter, Friday, Saturday and Monday.
We will be closed on ANZAC day but open on the Saturday that week.
And finally we will be closed on Labor day also.

That's a wrap for 2023!, What an interesting year that was!?

As always, a big thank you to you for supporting the shop for another year! We are humbled that you chose Barber G to keep you looking fresh in 2023, there is no "G" without "U"!! By supporting a locally owned business, you support local people, who in turn support other local people and other business within our region, bringing new opportunities for our community and residents of Mackay.
So Thank you all!
Thank you to all those that travel through our region and visit the shop, you come from all over Australia and the world, and we really enjoy learning about where you come from and where you are heading!!

A massive shout out to members of the V.I.P club. You are part of a very select few, and your faith in us and your continuous support from the very start is testament that old school values do still exist.

An exciting update for the shop is that the long awaited V.I.P area is ready. We will finally be open for bookings, starting January 9th 2024. This area is strictly for private bookings and functions. We have worked hard to provide a unique experience, and we are confident that you will enjoy total privacy and the exclusivity of having your service provided to you in a bespoke setting. You even have a V.I.P entry and exit!! in the Penny Arcade (Geckos Rest Entrance on Sydney Street).

an old school approach to confectionary. Remember being a kid and choosing your Lollies and Sweets from the counter whilst it was weighed and bagged in front of you??? Well you can now come and share that nostalgia with your children!!!

"Sweety Todd's" will be offered to the public on Saturday mornings only. Find us in the Penny Arcade (Gecko's rest entrance) on Sydney Street.

Just a reminder that we are not open any public holidays throughout the year.

So we will be closed at the end of this week, for :-
Good Friday
Easter Saturday
Easter Sunday
Easter Monday

and our usual Tuesday closure.

Which means after Wednesday and Thursday this week, we will not re-open our doors until Wednesday 12th April.

Hi Folks,

The run up to Christmas has begun. Don't leave your haircuts till the last minute as it's always a busy period. We have new staff members on to assist with the flow, so wait times will be greatly reduced.

Its been an interesting year, and we are hoping for a better one next year. One in which no talk of covid, the Russian war in Europe exist.

We will be open usual shop hours until Christmas eve when we close at 12 mid-day.

We re- open on the 11th of January 2023

As usual we thank you for your continued support in the shop, we cannot exist without your support and loyalty. So thank you! Your support makes it possible for us to employ locals, contribute to the community and change lives.

And finally......many of you would be aware that Jess has been training hard to compete in her debut Muay Thai match this Friday. We admire her determination and dedication to get herself ready for combat, and we are confident she will bring home the win.
