Life is slowly returning to normal so I thought it was time to finally fill you in on my evening skin care ā€œroutineā€.

Evening:

~ Makeup/sunscreen off with Bioderma Sensibio micellar water
~ Cleanse with Cerave Hydrating Cream Cleanser
~ 10 minutes of LED 3-5 times a week (this has gone to the wayside the last couple of weeks 🫠)

Then I will do one of the following three (never all of them in one evening)

~ 4-5 out of 7 nights I’ve managed to work my way up to a stronger retinol. I started with Aspect Dr Exfol A, then moved onto the Skinceuticals Retinols as there’s the option to build from 0.3% to 1%
~ One night a week I’ll do the bright nights mask. I tend not to leave this on overnight even though it has only very gentle AHA %. I’ll leave it on for 10-30 minutes then wash off and apply moisturiser
~ 1-2 nights a week I’ll do a mask that I’ll leave on overnight immediately after cleansing. These are my favourite nights as it’s so easy and so restorative for my skin! I switch between my holy grails, Aspect probiotic mask or the Aspect hydrating mask.

~ Finish up with a moisturiser (I don’t do this if it’s a mask night). My go tos are the Aspect Dr resveratrol or Skinceuticals A.G.E Interrupter Advanced Anti Wrinkle Cream

It’s definitely a longer process than my morning routine but I have the time at night and I actually really enjoy the process. Please remember that just because this works well for me it doesn’t mean it’s what’s right for your skin! I also try to see what my skins telling me at the time and if it’s feeling sensitive or compromised in any way I switch it up a bit. I’m always happy to chat if you need help figuring out what your skin needs, and I can refer on to some brilliant dermal therapists who are amazing at this too.

Happy Mothers Day - to all the women who nurture, support, encourage, and hold space for those in their lives. For those with small children, older children, those who have lost or those who are longing šŸ«¶šŸ¼

After asking Instagram last week if anyone was interested in hearing about what I use for my skin, a few people (88 in total 😬) responded with a ā€œyes, pleaseā€. Due to all the fun regulations I can’t post about a lot of the treatments I do in clinic but I can chat about what I use at home.

I will break this up over a couple of posts, not because it’s an excessive routine (it’s incredibly basic apart from all the obsessive sunscreen reapplication) but because I’m not allowed to post much anymore so want to drag it out šŸ˜‚

Morning:
~ Cleanse with water (literally just wash my face in the shower) or cerave hydrating cream cleanser if it’s feeling dry
~ Skinceuticals C E Ferulic Vitamin C serum. My holy grail vitamin C and will actually be available at Gee very soon
~ Unless my skins feeling particularly dry (change in seasons generally) I rarely moisturise at this point. If I do I use the Aspect Dr Ultra Light.
~ Sunscreen always - whether I’m outside or inside this goes on every 2-3 hours. If I know I’m going outside into the sun I use the Skinceuticals Ultra Facial Defense, but if I’m going to work and will be inside I use the Airyday Golden Glow. I will explain why in stories!

My husband works in the medical industry and said something the other day that really resonated with me-

The best marketing is good clinical outcomes.

In a time where many are lamenting the fact that we are limited in what we can say and do on social media, my focus will continue to be my patient and providing them with the best evidenced based practice. The majority of my business has always been from word of mouth and it’s what I will continue to rely on moving forward with the new TGA regulations. So thank you to my wonderful patients who continue to trust me with their skin, and who trust me enough to refer me to their loved ones too šŸ’«

The word nasolabial is comprised of the Latin terms for nose, and lip, and with this in mind it’s easy to determine that these lines appear between the corner of the lower outer edge of the nose and track towards to corner of the mouth. They are a very normal anatomical feature and don’t necessarily signify ageing (even my kids have nasolabial folds!) but as we get older they do become more noticeable.

These lines often become more prominent with age due to a number of factors but the main reasons are loss of volume in the mid face and a loss of collagen and skin elasticity.

Having spent years working in paediatric palliative care, I am acutely aware of what a privilege it is to age. I am not anti-ageing and that will never be the way I treat my patients. My priority is to celebrate you and the life you have lived, and to enhance your positives so that when you look in the mirror you recognise that person standing in front of you

Our skin is an ecosystem and should be cared for as such. Biojuve utilizes a first-of-its-kind living microbe technology to support the skins delicate microbiome.

I love this range because it effectively treats patients with impaired barrier function who are more prone to developing inflammation and conditions such as perioral dermatitis, acne and congestion, dryness, eczema and rosacea. By stripping back our skincare routine and focusing on restoring that delicate ecosystem you can empower the skins innate mechanisms for health and immune function.

As of today I am offering 20% off the full range in store. With the change in seasons comes a shift in skin health so take advantage of this revolutionary product and allow your skin to heal from within.

By far my favourite thing about this job is the incredible women I get to meet, chat and laugh with every day. Happy International Women’s Day to each of you who trusts me with your face, your skin, and your stories.
