1-Minute Reset Breathwork

A simple nervous system reset you can do anywhere — at work, in the car, before a meeting, or whenever you feel overwhelmed.

The Reset

-Inhale through the nose for 4 seconds
Fill low into the belly first.

-Hold for 2 seconds.

-Exhale slowly through the mouth for 6 seconds

Let the shoulders soften and jaw relax.

Repeat for 1 minute.

While You Breathe:

-Drop your shoulders
-Unclench your jaw
-Relax your tongue
-Let the exhale feel like a release

Why It Works:

The longer exhale helps activate the parasympathetic nervous system — shifting the body from stress and survival into a calmer, more regulated state.

In just 60 seconds this can help:

-Reduce stress and tension
-Slow the heart rate
-Clear mental fog
-Improve focus
-Bring you back into your body

I was introduced to breathwork by a mate in 2019. My first experience was at a Wim Hof retreat.
From there I was intrigued about how, just by breathing your state of mind and body can change and feel so different.

Fast forward to 2020 and we all know what went down for the next few years. This was where I lost myself, my whole world changed, I was angry, frustrated and in a very dark place, although I didnt realise just how much until afterward.

I started practicing the Wim Hof method of breathing, I witnessed something in myself after doing the breathwork.
My mental state was better, I had peace after the session and I had experiences that could be addictive if I let it.

This was a pivitol point in my recovery from hate , feeling disgruntled and reactive, to calm and less reactive. Although since then there were a couple of incidences I lost my s**t over. 😳😳

It wasnt until 2024 I trained to become a certified breathwork facilitator to help others heal themselves through the breath.

That's where I am today, helping clients breath better, to regulate their nervous system, bring them back to calm, which can release the tension being held in the body, allowing the person to heal and when practiced regularly, help you deal with stresses better.

What happens in your body when you slow your breath? 🌬️

Most people don’t realise that the way you breathe directly affects your nervous system, emotions, energy, and even how clearly you think.

When you consciously slow your breathing:

• Your heart rate begins to slow
• Blood pressure can decrease
• The nervous system shifts from “fight or flight” into “rest and repair”
• Stress hormones like cortisol start to reduce
• The vagus nerve activates, helping the body feel safer and more regulated
• Muscles soften and tension starts to release
• Oxygen delivery becomes more efficient
• The mind becomes calmer and less reactive
• Digestion and recovery improve
• You become more present and connected to your body

A slow breath sends a signal to your brain:
“You are safe.”

And when the body feels safe, healing, clarity, emotional release, and regulation become possible.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do…
is slow down enough to breathe properly again. 🌿

So many people are carrying stress, emotional weight, exhaustion, anxiety, and tension in the body without realising how deeply it affects their life.

This is why I do this work.

“Why you can feel exhausted even when you sleep”

You can get 8 hours of sleep and still wake up drained if your nervous system never truly switches off.

When the body stays stuck in stress mode, your breath often becomes shallow, fast, or restricted — even during sleep. This keeps the system in low-level survival mode, making it harder to fully recover, repair, and restore energy.

Breathwork helps by signalling safety to the nervous system.

Slowing the breath, extending the exhale, and bringing awareness back into the body can help shift you from constant “fight or flight” into a deeper state of rest and recovery.

Sometimes exhaustion isn’t just about needing more sleep.

It’s about teaching the body how to relax again. 🌿

Here's a quick and easy to do breathing technique you can use to feel calm when you're stressed or anxious.
Inhale through nose into.belly for 4 counts,
Exhale through mouth for 6 to.8 counts.
You can do this for as long as you need until you feel relaxed and calm.

Most people think they need to “think more positively” to change their life…

But if your nervous system is stuck in survival mode, your body will override your mindset every time.

You can tell yourself you’re safe.
You can repeat affirmations.
You can try to relax.
But if your system still feels threatened beneath the surface, you’ll keep reacting from stress patterns without even realising it.

This is where fight, flight, and freeze come in.

⚡ Fight can look like: Irritability, frustration, controlling situations, snapping at people, always feeling “on edge.”

🏃 Flight can look like: Overthinking, staying busy, never slowing down, anxiety, constantly needing distraction or productivity.

🧊 Freeze can look like: Feeling numb, disconnected, exhausted, unmotivated, stuck, or unable to take action.

These aren’t personality flaws.

They’re nervous system responses.

Your body is constantly asking:
“Am I safe right now?”

And when the nervous system doesn’t feel safe, it keeps you in protection mode — even when there’s no immediate danger.

This is why breathwork can be so powerful.
Because the breath speaks directly to the nervous system.

When you learn how to regulate your breathing, you begin teaching the body that it’s safe to soften, release, and come back into balance.

A regulated nervous system changes everything:
• clearer thinking
• better sleep
• less anxiety
• emotional stability
• more energy
• deeper connection to yourself and others

Healing isn’t just mental.
It’s physiological too.
