If you’re heading to Japan soon, or simply love discovering beauty hidden gems, here are some of my favourite finds from this trip.
As a bridal makeup artist, I’m always looking for products that are practical, effective, and genuinely worth the suitcase space. These are the items I bought, tested, and would happily purchase again.
A little tip for my Australian girls: some of these products can actually be found locally through Daiso, W Cosmetics, Amazon, or selected Asian beauty stores, so you don’t necessarily need to wait for your next Japan trip.
Save this post for your future Japan shopping list, and let me know which product you’re most excited to try.
The Tear-Proof Bridal Base Recipe is officially LIVE.
Inside, I break down the exact signature formula I use on real brides:
• Long-lasting, tear-proof bridal skin prep
• How to prevent makeup separation and patchiness
• My tear-proof layering technique for emotional moments
• The strategy behind creating luxury bridal results clients rave about
This isn’t just theory.
It’s the system that helped me build a bridal experience trusted by thousands of brides.
Includes:
• 6 detailed modules
• 47-page Ebook
• Bite-size lessons designed for busy artists
If you’re ready to stop guessing and start creating bridal makeup that actually lasts — this is for you.

Can I be honest?
You don’t always need eyelid tape on Asian monolid eyes.
A lot of the time, it’s actually about:
• understanding the eye structure
• choosing the right tones
• extending the shape correctly
• controlling depth and placement
Because when the placement is wrong, the eyes can easily look heavier, smaller, or overly harsh.
Monolid eyes are beautiful as they are. The goal isn’t to “change” them.
It’s learning how to enhance them properly.
This is also why I always teach my artists that Bridal Makeup is not a copy-paste process. Different features need different techniques.
I’m offering limited 1:1 Upskill Artist Training sessions this June in Melbourne.
A detailed, intimate training designed to help you elevate your artistry, deepen your knowledge, and attract more premium clients into your business.

Fair skin is not the easiest skin to match. It’s actually one of the trickiest.
The undertones shift.
The chroma is delicate.
Go one shade too warm and she’s orange. One shade too cool and she’s grey.
There’s almost no margin for error.
Here’s what I do every time:
Start neutral. Always. Don’t assume warm or cool before you’ve looked properly — start with a neutral shade and let the skin tell you where to go from there.
Look at the whole body, not just the face. The jaw is lying to you. The neck, the chest, the inner arm — that’s where the true tone lives.
Match the chroma. Fair skin isn’t just light — it has an intensity level. A foundation that’s the right undertone but wrong chroma will still pull off. This is the step most artists skip.
These three alone will change your results on fair skin clients immediately.
If you want my full shade matching method — every variable, every skin type, every undertone family broken down in one place — my Skin Matching Guide for artists is linked in my bio. 🔗

The Wasian Makeup Look 🍫🌺
The unofficial makeup trend for every winter escape girl heading somewhere tropical right now.
Think:
• sun-kissed skin without looking orange
• soft lifted eyes that still feel youthful
• glossy bronzed cheeks
• warm neutral tones that make you look expensive on holiday
• effortless but still put together
It’s giving: rich island glow.
Not heavy. Not overdone. Just naturally hot.
Save this for your next Bali/Thailand/Fiji trip.
And send this to the friend already planning her tropical escape during Aussie winter.
If your client ever looked too orange, too yellow, or too ashy — this is why.
You were matching undertone. You forgot saturation.
Saturation is how intense the pigment in the skin is — and it completely changes which foundation will actually work.
Two clients can have the same warm undertone and need totally different foundations because one has high saturation and one has low.
Most artists aren’t taught this. So they keep guessing. Keep over-correcting. Keep ending up with a result that’s almost right but not quite.
I’ve been shade matching professionally for over a decade. I broke down my entire method — saturation, undertone, oxidisation, skin type, lighting — into a guide made for artists who are done guessing.
