Most people see the finished hair, but the day behind the scenes is a mix of consultations, colour bowls, foils, 10 minute lunch break, conversations with clients, and plenty of attention to the small details that make a result come together.

No two days are exactly the same, but that’s part of what makes this job so enjoyable.

From the first appointment in the morning through to the final blow-dry of the day, there’s always a lot happening in the salon that you don’t always see.

You know that moment when you drop into the salon chair and your whole mood shifts… instantly?

Someone asks what you want to drink (yes please). The head massage hits just right and suddenly… the week doesn’t feel quite so chaotic anymore.

Not answering texts, not solving problems. You’re just there… existing… being looked after for once. Then a few hours later... fresh colour, bouncy blow-dry, feeling like yourself again.

A little lighter.
A little calmer.
A little “okay yep, I’ve got this.”

It had been a hot minute… last colour was when we went PURPLE back in 2023 😱 and it had been over 6 months between cuts. So yes… we had a bit to work with.

We started with a proper chat about the vibe this time around. Previously she’d been living her bold, vibrant purple era, but today? We were shifting gears into something softer… warm, caramel tones with some face framing to brighten everything up around her face.

We used her inspo as a guide, but made a few tweaks to suit her hair. We lifted the lightness a little higher to open everything up and add more dimension, so it didn’t just sit flat or heavy.

And the biggest priority the whole way through? Keeping the hair feeling good. We used Olaplex throughout the lightening process to protect the integrity, because there’s no point chasing a colour if the hair health isn’t backing it up.

Now it’s all soft, glowy, caramel goodness… without pushing it further than it needed to go (which is usually where things can tip a bit too far).
