I never in a million years thought I would go vegan. I distinctly remember stating on a number of occasions that, “I could NEVER give up eggs!” (Amongst other things)
For me it happened by mistake. After a number of health concerns, I incidentally found myself giving up meat, dairy and eggs - purely for health reasons. Again, I remember stating that, “Yeah, I’m vegan but I’ll still eat eggs if I want to. I’m not going to be strict about it!”
The thing was though - it very quickly became a huge part of my values. I think the more you ‘are’ something, the more you want to learn about it. And so...I started to do my research. Soon enough my eyes were opened and it became very clear to me that there were things I could no longer ignore.
Being vegan is now a BIG part of who I am. It’s heavily instilled in my values and beliefs and, is a cause, I am incredibly proud to be a part of!
If you’re thinking of becoming vegan, it’s important to know that you don’t have to give up everything right away. Start small. Do some research. Talk to people who have been there. Be curious. Ask questions.
Reducing your intake of animal products is a great start. Look at the ingredients in the food you buy. Look at labels of the products you purchase.
You may be surprised to know that many of the items you purchase on a regular basis, like nail polish, shampoo, conditioner, clothing, and makeup contain animal byproducts. BUT...they don’t need to! There are a number of awesome and amazing alternatives out there that are just as good...if not better!!!
