Men. Can you relate?
I know with certainty I can!

For me it speaks of the unconscious symptom manifestation of certain disease.
Take heart attacks, or stress cardiomyopathy. These are heart attacks that appear after a significant stressor or a build up of stressors (physical or emotional) that haven't been dealt with correctly.
This could be the inability to articulate and communicate how these stressors have affected you.

When was the last time you had a good cry?
We certainly cry together in our consults and the growth and better health outcomes from that alone is phenomenal.

Hello,

I’ve just popped up to put a face to the posts

I'm Ricky, The Mens Naturopath.

I encourage Men to clean the leaves out of their gutter before they have to deal with a leaky roof.

I'm really into running at the moment. I don't have one fitness I gravitate towards, I tend to pick a new one each quarter and go with that. I currently look more like a pray-mantis because of this ...or an asparagus as my partner says (she’d much prefer a broccoli).

Most happiest when duck diving through waves. Note to self -get back in the ocean.

My brain doesn't know how to function without a list, and the day quickly gets lost in the ether without it.

Being a naturopath is the greatest job in the world because the feelings a client gets from everlasting results is something we both can share in.

When it no longer happens!

I’m talking about morning wood or morning er****ons.

If you’re no longer waking up with morning wood, its not only meaning that some forms of s*x are out of the question, It’s also a bit of a canary in a coalmine.

To have an er****on you need a host of chemical and neuronal stars to align, plus a healthy pinch of your fight mechanism with a healthy pinch of your relax mechanisms. This shall send a river of blood to engorge your p***s.

For many reasons this blood may not be making its way to the p***s. It may be slow in it’s arrival, or it may not get there at all.
What helps the blood to arrive to it’s s*xy destination?
The little blue pill...
Suddenly we are in the matrix and decisions must be made

So do you take the little blue pill and hope for the best.
Or do you take the red pill, dive deep into what this canary means for you to find everlasting s*xiness?

More than 30% of dermatologic disorders are influenced by psychological and psychiatric factors.

Remember when I said you could be eating all the 'right' skin foods and still have skin ailments.

Stress can negatively affect the skin in a myriad of ways. The skin acts as a permeable barrier to the outside world and stress decreases this protective mechanism, exposing us to further damage from allergens, environmental toxins and pollutants.

Stress is both a consequence of living with certain diseases and a cause for exacerbation.
It can act as a cue that the outside world is getting to you,
"getting under my skin"

But you can eat your way to better skin.

Omega 3: Omega 3 deficiencies are commonly seen in those with dry skin. A good source — Atlantic salmon, mackerel, chia and flax seed.

Antioxidants! Antioxidants are one of the great protectors of free radical damage from the suns rays. A favourite source of antioxidants to many is cacao, in one study, where findings showed a 12-week consumption of cacao increased the hydration of the skin.

Vitamin A: A deficiency in this is commonly seen in people with rough dry skin. A good source — Orange coloured fruit and veggies, eggs.

Vitamin C: Needed to create collagen which contributes to skin hydration. A good source — Citrus, Kiwi, Capsicums.

Vitamin E: Increases the ability for water to bind to the skin in small studies. A good source — Almond oil, Avocado, Sunflower seeds.

So what if you are already eating these foods and your skin is still a little bit worse for wear?

Itchy? Dry? Scaly?

For a long time, a shaving cream and a razor were the only tool a man had in his skincare arsenal.

Incidentally, this shaving act was a very effective form of facial skin exfoliation. It improves skin softness, texture and leaves a smoother feeling face, but over-do it and the face will be left feeling rough, dry, and unloved..

Well sort of, not really.

When you inhale cold dry air through the nose, the nasal passage works hard to;
a) moisten this air, and
b) warm it for its safe passage into the lungs.

Dry air can cause the mucous membranes in the nose to dry, so the compensatory mechanism in the nose is to ramp up mucous production.
And lets not forget simple condensation, especially us mask wearing Melburnians.

But if you find your nose leaking like a tap more often than not, then you may need to look beyond the cold.
