Fine lines are a completely natural part of the ageing process.
As we age, our skin becomes thinner, collagen and elastin production gradually decline, and repeated facial movements create small creases over time.
Factors such as sun exposure, dehydration, stress and lifestyle habits can also contribute to making these changes more noticeable.
Understanding why these changes occur is the first step in creating a personalised approach to supporting your skin as it evolves.
If you’d like guidance on your skin health, collagen support and treatment options suited to your individual needs, you’re welcome to book a consultation.

Let’s unpack lower face ageing ↓
As we age, changes in the lower face occur due to a combination of collagen decline, changes in facial fat compartments, bone remodelling, skin laxity, and muscle activity.
Certain muscles play a role in creating downward tension and contributing to lower face ageing:
DAO (Depressor Anguli Oris)
• A muscle that pulls the corners of the mouth downward, contributing to a more downturned mouth appearance.
Mentalis muscle
• Increased activity of this muscle can contribute to chin dimpling, changes in chin projection and deepening of the mental crease.
Platysma muscle
• This broad neck muscle can create a downward pull through the lower face and jawline, contributing to heaviness and reduced definition.
A thorough facial assessment looks beyond one area. It involves assessing muscle movement, facial structure, skin quality and overall balance.

Dullness can happen when your skin’s natural renewal process slows down. This can be caused by things like dehydration, sun exposure, a build-up of dead skin cells, or everyday environmental stressors.
A tailored skincare routine with the right active ingredients can help support healthy skin renewal and bring back a fresher, more radiant-looking glow.
If you’re not sure what your skin needs, a consultation can help us identify what’s contributing to the dullness and we can create a plan tailored to your skin.

Collagen is the protein that helps support, strengthen and renew your skin.
Think of it as your skin’s scaffolding, providing structure and support to help keep skin feeling firm, supple and resilient.
Collagen also plays an important role in skin repair and recovery.
From our mid-20s, collagen production naturally begins to decline, contributing to changes in skin texture, firmness and elasticity over time.
While collagen loss is a normal part of ageing, there are ways to support collagen production and overall skin health through prescribed skincare, lifestyle habits and professional treatments tailored to you.
DM ‘COLLAGEN’ to learn more about treatments and skincare options that can support collagen production and skin health.

Dark under eye circles are a common concern and can occur for a variety of reasons, including genetics, pigmentation, thinning skin, dehydration, lack of sleep, or even the natural contours of your facial anatomy creating shadowing beneath the eyes.
Because there are several potential causes, understanding what is contributing to your under eye appearance is the first step in determining what may help.
During your consultation, I take the time to assess your concerns, identify the underlying factors, and discuss the most suitable treatment options for your individual needs.
