Think your cleanser doesn’t matter? Think again! 👀
The skin sits at a naturally slightly acidic pH.
Thats why the surface is referred to as your Acid Mantle….
This acidic environment is what your barrier, cells and enzymes need to work properly.
Those enzymes help organise barrier lipids, and they regulate desquamation (you know, the controlled shedding of old skin cells).
When that environment gets disrupted over and over by using a cleanser that is maybe too alkaline or contains surfactants that removes too much surface lipids - everything goes a little haywire…
Shedding becomes uneven, texture builds up, and the barrier becomes leaky.
That’s why your choice of cleanser is SO important.
Not because it stays on your skin, but because twice daily it changes the conditions your skin has to function in.

Reality check on “anti-ageing” treatments - as a 54 year-old clinic founder.
This is my skin.
No filter.
No ring light or sneaky tinted spf.
No pretending. every sign of ageing can be fixed with a laser, injectable or expensive serum.
Because ageing isn’t just a skin problem.
Collagen and elastin change, fat compartments shift, soft tissue changes and even the facial skeleton remodels with age.
So when one treatment promises to “lift”, replace volume AND reverse ageing… Umm…🚩
Here’s what I’m actually planning - and expecting:
✅ BBL/Aerolase: clearer pigment, redness and photodamage. Not glass skin.
✅ CO₂ + RF microneedling: better texture, collagen remodelling and some improvement in laxity. Improvement ….. not the skin I had at 25.
✅ Biostimulation: improving tissue quality and supporting collagen/ECM remodelling — not replacing structural changes underneath.
✅ Upper blepharoplasty: because sometimes excess skin needs surgery. No skincare or device can replace surgical excision. My team will handle the post op and my DMK Australia & New Zealand Revitosin vitamin A and my Epicutis essentials will handle my prep.
Sme things I’m not trying to “fix”.
I have age-related structural change around my lower face. I can improve the skin sitting over it, but tightening skin doesn’t rebuild the facial skeleton underneath.
And so the least sexy part of the plan: protein, nutrition, sleep, resistance training and continued use of quality SPF.
I LOVE what we can achieve with skin at HÜD!
But our industry needs to get better at saying:
This is what I can improve.
This is what I probably can’t.
And this is what ageing normally looks like.
Embrace that.
The goal isn’t to look 25.
It’s to have BLOODY GREAT skin at 54 — while still looking 54 🫶

Our team attended an intimate private dinner last night celebrating our 11 year partnership with DMK Australia & New Zealand 🤍💫
In our business it isn’t just “a retail product” to us.
There are thousands of ranges and equally as many approaches to skin.
We never cared about “what’s in” - our focus has always been and will always be - what’s right for the skin.
We have been so fortunate this entire time to have one business developer and educator - rozimaclean.dmk - and she is a very big part of the success we’ve had over the past 11 years changing lives with DMK.
So much passion, dedication, education and commitment to constant learning. And Rozita has been an example that is hard to find in this industry.

Post treatment hives 😫
Is this normal post micro needling - or did something go wrong?
It’s actually more common than you might think.
Mast cell activation is part of the healing process and they release histamine.
Some won’t notice - but some people’s immune response is more dramatic by nature.
And some temporary changes like recent viruses, heightened stress, hormonal fluctuations or medications can also change how your skin responds to treatments.
