One thing I like about lockdowns is revisiting old exercises like renegade rows great for almost evert muscle in your body and challenges strength and stability at the same time! I’ve been adding this into clients workouts and you definitely don’t have to do a lot to feel the effects 🙌🏻

🌱Food Freedom 🌱
The importance of it is talked about a lot and used for promoing all kinds if diet plans but the long bumpy road to achieve it is rarely discussed. I believe its not discussed because its not a one size fits all and there isn’t always a clear cut image on what its meant to look like and it can be messy. However once you spend a few months or years figuring out what fits you, how your mind and body responds to different ways of eating you get that illusive feeling of food freedom. The key to this is understanding your self and your relationship to food.
Changing the language around food is a good start
I like foundation as a replacement for healthy/ good food and discretionary for unhealthy/ junk/ bad food.
Taking the morality of food away decreases shame which is a key element of restriction and binge cycles.
Foundation is all the foods you need to meet your body’s requirements to stay functional. Discretionary food is all the foods you like, sometimes referred to as soul food. Nutritionally discretionary food may not offer much but they do mentally, emotionally, socially and culturally. Having a balance of both matters to keep you feeling amazing. What that balance looks like depends on your nutritional requirements, workouts, job, mental health and more which is why food freedom is so personal.
On bright day between zoom sessions we have a fun bodyweight workout 😄one thing I like about lockdowns is the sunny balcony workouts

My body was having a protest week! Tired, aches, pains (if you know you know) some workouts didn’t happen and some were very minimal. Today is not a make up workout for the ones I missed because my body said “hell nah” today is a workout to move in a way that will make me feel good 🥰

Apparently its still a little confusing how people do vegan/ plant based so I’ll add to the conversation. I bulk cook my food on Sundays which takes between 1hour and 1.5 hours, heating and assembling my food takes between 5-15 minutes at lunch and dinner 🙌🏻

🟢 HOME WORKOUT TIP 🟢
A great way to improve your home workout (even your gym workout) is to slow down and focus on which muscles are meant to be working in each exercise. Sometimes we move so fast in our workouts trying to get the most out of our limited we end up not using the right muscles and our bodies compensate with the wrong muscles which can lead to posture imbalance, aches, pains and even injury. This focus exercise by slowing down and connecting with your body is also a great way to ground your mind if anxiety brain is taking over. A lot of meditations are about connecting to the present through physical sensations which you can apply to exercise.
Remember! Try not to get mad at your body or mind for not getting something right quickly, it will definitely take as long to correct something as it did to create it.

Throw back Thursday! 18 year old Kim at the Australian institute of fitness studying to become a PT and then later that year at one of her first jobs 😭 😍 I have certainly changed and grown as trainer over the last 9 years but one thing that has stayed the same is the reason I chose to become a trainer. I believe deep in my soul that the world would be a better place if we cared for ourselves in real ways. Getting into fitness was that start of the journey to becoming a genuinely happier more confident person and I believed then and now that getting into fitness would do the same for others. @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
