I'm so proud to have directed with this ambitious cross-cultural project, for which there is now a snazzy video explaining all its layers of interaction between kids in Melbourne and Jeonju, Korea. We found ways to use creative communication instead of the spoken word to develop relationships across countries and always integral was the kids' connection to their landscapes - and particularly their local breeze!
Please take a look at this beautiful video created by Mirye Park that tracks the project from it's beginnings 4 years ago to its public outing at AsiaTopa in Federation Square and simultaneously at Jeonju Arts Centre.

I am heading up a new VicHealth project for South Gippsland Shire Council over the next two years. This Park's Alive! involves co-creating guides of parks and nature spaces with local children. The guides will be digital and accessible for two years at specific parks across the Shire. This is a great way to provoke new ways of engaging with spaces in creative ways. And we are calling out for two artists who live in the Shire to join us!
🎨 Calling All Artists in South Gippsland!
🌳 South Gippsland Shire Council is working with Melbourne-based artist Jessica Wilson on an exciting new project: This Park’s Alive!
💰 Funded by VicHealth’s Growing Healthy Communities grant, this participative art initiative will engage local children with their community parks through creativity and play.
🤳 We’re now seeking two local artists to collaborate with Jessica over the next 14 months to co-design creative workshops and help bring a digital park experience to life.
🧑🎨 Whether your practice is in visual arts, music, sound, video, gaming or theatre, we want to hear from you.
🗓️ Applications close Monday 25 August 2025.

We are so thankful to have this opportunity to spend time in Yucutan, Mexico, during a two week break in my US tour of I See You Like This. It's such a welcoming place with incredible diversity of landscape, birds and people, and the best food ever.
Seriously.. how good is Mexico? Dancing in the streets for all ages! And look at how those older couples move!
Whilst the kite-like outlines that children have made of their new Korean friends fly here in Melbourne (on the Artplay hill in real life and on screens in Fed Square), it's snowing at Palbok Arts Centre where our children are flying.

The packs are ready to go!
I'm preparing all this beautiful material for our Arts Centre Melbourne season for Victorian primary schools this year. Each pack is to be shared across at least 3 classrooms and can be used year after year with everything reusable.
Thanks to Vanessa Fernandez for the aesthetic that permeates all of the Child Nation world.

Arts Centre and Child Nation are partnering this year! We are offering on-campus experiences of imaginative thinking for primary schools across Victoria. Each school receives a mail-delivered pack and one year's access to the interactive digital adventures that use children's own answers to guide them in customised experiences of their own school.
Child Nation is all about 'mainstreaming' permission for children to think imaginatively about the environments around them, and connect on their own terms with nature and their immediate world. The wellbeing benefits are being felt and we are receiving glowing reports about how the experiences engage and awaken children in a new type of learning.
Thank you to the amazing Creative Learning team at and to the woman behind the visual world of Child Nation VanessaFernandez of Tear It Up Design and to Andrew Middleton for his business support over the past 6 months.
