Yoga on the mat quietly prepares us for life off the mat. 🦋

It teaches us to move through the world with a little more awareness, a little more softness, and perhaps a little more kindness. 💗

Ahimsa — one of the first teachings of Ashtanga yoga — is often translated as non-harming. But I love to think of it simply as choosing kindness wherever we can. 🫂

And sometimes kindness looks wonderfully ordinary....
A freshly washed kitchen waiting for someone you love.
A bathroom sink quietly wiped clean.
A tea towel straightened.
A towel folded and waiting for the next person.
Beautiful scents of essential oils gently diffusing aromas of comfort.
Nothing grand. Nothing that needs applause.
Just tiny acts of love woven into the fabric of an ordinary day. 🙏

Perhaps the next time you find yourself doing those little household things, pause for a moment and imagine the person who will come along afterwards.
Imagine how it might feel to walk into that clean kitchen.
To reach for that neatly folded towel.
To feel, without even knowing why, that someone has cared.
And suddenly, the chore becomes something else.
A little offering.
A little kindness.
A quiet way of saying, “I thought of you.” 🌿
Perhaps this is Ahimsa too —
finding the love that is already within us,
and letting it spill gently into the smallest moments of our lives. 🦋

And then teach this to our children. Imagine if the whole world lived this way 🪷

With love
TANIA 🙏

If these photos have taught me anything, it's this...

Balance has very little to do with creating the "perfect" shape.

Ayurveda teaches that true health comes from living in harmony with our unique nature while protecting Ojas—our deepest reserve of vitality, resilience and life force. Ojas isn't built through striving. It grows through nourishing food, deep sleep, meaningful connection, joy, stillness and living in rhythm with the seasons of our lives.

Traditional Chinese Medicine offers a similar wisdom. We each carry a precious essence, while our Qi is meant to flow—not become stuck through chronic stress, overwork, suppressed emotion or constant busyness. Health isn't about having endless energy; it's about allowing energy to move with ease while honouring the reserves that sustain us.

Yoga has always pointed in the same direction.

The practice isn't about mastering extraordinary postures. It is about learning the dance between effort and ease, action and rest, expansion and surrender. The most advanced practice isn't the one that looks impressive—it's the one that teaches us to listen before the body has to shout.

Our nervous system understands this dance.

It knows when to activate. It knows when to restore.

Healing begins when we stop asking, "How do I achieve balance?" and begin asking, "What is this season asking of me?"

Because when we remember that we are nature, healing becomes a return home.

A return to rhythm.

A return to presence.

A return to ourselves.

🌿

Let's talk menopause, grief and mental health. 🪷

Somewhere along the way, life happens... and then perimenopause quietly begins.
At first it's almost invisible. It creeps in while we're busy living. One day we realise we're grieving the woman we once were—energetic, carefree and familiar. 💃 We may feel emotional, exhausted, anxious or simply lost, wondering where we went. Sometimes awareness of the inkling of menoplause arrives at the loss of a beloved pet, a parent, a friend, or the realisation that our children have grown and no longer need us in the same way. We wonder where our libido went 🤔. Sometimes these moments awaken old wounds we thought we'd long since healed. 😪

But perhaps this isn't the end.
Perhaps it's the shedding of who we've been so we can become the women we're meant to be. Women with strength, wisdom, compassion and a softer kind of power. 🦋

This isn't based on science or fact—it's simply my experience and the stories shared with me by other women. For me, perimenopause slowly brought old grief and past trauma to the surface. I lost my sense of self for a time. But little by little, a different version of me has emerged. Not the woman I was... but one I like. 🪷

Without yoga and its teachings, I'm not sure I would have found my way through. 🧘‍♀️

So today, if you're struggling then please be gentle with yourself. Rest if you need to. Hibernate. Nest. Trust that, just like the sun rises after every dark night, you too will rise. 🌅

Today, practise Ahimsa—non-harming (one of the first teachings of Ashtanga yoga). Offer yourself the same kindness and compassion you so freely give to others. And remember, everyone you meet may be carrying a battle you cannot see.
💛 Be gentle. Healing isn't linear, but it is possible. 🕉

Has perimenopause or menopause changed you? I'd love to hear your experience?

Yesterday’s Restorative yoga class unfolded in a way I couldn’t have planned. I felt blocked creatively yesterday. I arrived with no theme, no sequence —just a willingness to listen quietly to find the flow of the class through intuition. . .
Then a familiar face walked in carrying a handcrafted Native American flute, and everything aligned. 🪷
We moved gently in a circular flow, honouring the circle (the rhythm)of life, grounding into a quiet reverence for the earth beneath us. The room softened into stillness, movement in the room lowered down to just the breath, presence, and the subtle thread of something deeper. 🧘‍♀️🧘‍♂️
At the end, Ocar played the flute—its sound earthy and haunting, a perfect closing to something that felt both simple and very profound. 🙏
Sometimes making no plan allows for higher realms to move through us. 🦋

I’m reflecting on how yoga is shared across the world. The frustrations with the Western interpretation. 🤔

Yoga has evolved much since its beginnings in vedic times. Yet the original intention to ease suffering in this life is still at its heart. 🧘‍♀️

Gone are the days of only guru & disciple. We all come to the path differently. 🦋

I didn’t begin with a deep understanding. Drawn to movement via my ego. I’d been a dancer, naturally flexible, & the shapes came easily. It became a place where I felt seen, rather than in the shadows. 🦋

Time within the practice on the mat revealed so much more.
I understand the frustration when yoga can seem reduced to something external or ego-driven. And at the same time, the practice invites us to notice frustration within us —to soften, to let go. 🌬

If the physical is one of the doorways to the truth of yoga, that’s okay. And if one comes to yoga simply for exercise—does that really need to be a problem? Yes they call it yoga but those who know, know the deeper truth. Does our ego need to have this known? Not everyone is here for the full path. The depth of yoga has a way of finding those who are ready. And in the meantime, people are moving, breathing, caring for their bodies—something that matters in a largely sedentary world. 🎮

Somewhere along the way, I realised this path is my purpose. The depth of yoga, its evolution, its teachings—this is what I’m here to share. I’m not a guru, and I don’t pretend to be. But I also see clearly now that I may never have found this depth without the very thing I once led with—my ego, my ease in asana, the way I was seen.
These days, I don’t practice asana every day—but I practice yoga in how I move through life. In how I relate, how I respond, even in something as simple as washing the dishes. 🪷

I love Asana. I love how strong & resilient it has made my body and my mind but yes it's just a part of the whole. As yoga has evolved so has the postures. And this is life yeah! Ever evolving, ever changing. 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀

Yoga meets us where we are. And if its deeper truth can ease suffering, why wouldn’t we want that to r

Yoga Asana is so much more than exercise. It's a playground for real life. It's only one of the steps on the path of yoga towards easing suffering.

Yoga on the mat teaches us how to live life with deep awareness, joy and abundance in each moment. 🪷 The Eight Limbs or branches of yoga (Ashtanga) are the wise teachings of how to live an abundant and full life. 🦋

A day retreat held at the serene and stunning in Mission Beach, far north Queensland began the cleaning of the window of Avidya allowing a new perspective to shine through. 🌈

I am now back in Adelaide teaching Ashtanga on Thursday mornings and my regular classes at .noarlunga and .brighton.sa and an online class at 9.30am Tuesday mornings. Please DM if you feel inspired to learn more. 🙏

Side note. Never feel wary of asking me questions. I will never pressure anyone into trying yoga. If and when the time is right you will find yourself on a yoga mat one day with the right teacher for you. In the meantime my chat is always open for serious inquires. 🫶

Peace, Love & Happiness to all
