Exfoliation plays a key role in healthy skin. It helps to remove dead skin cells, promote cell turnover, assist with pigmentation and uneven skin tone and increase skin radiance.
While you want your skin to be refined, over-exfoliation can lead to irritation, redness, dehydration, and barrier impairment.
The frequency of exfoliation comes down to a range of factors including your skin type, the product used and the rest of your regime. Mild exfoliation found in products such as cleansers or toners are able to be used daily by most clients. However, more intensive exfoliation such as scrubs and masks are best kept to 1-2 times per week.
