proudly manufactured in South Australia. Creator Claire Osterstock is an Australian Physiotherapist with a special interest in helping women and men with the management of pelvic floor problems. It was through observation and client reports that Claire discovered that nearly all lubricants contain synthetic chemicals and preservatives, which can cause irritation to sensitive tissues.

“Clients would often complain of burning and itching after the use of personal lubricants, so I in collaboration with a compounding pharmacist I created a new, all-natural intimate cream,” says Claire. The product is a blend of South Australian organic extra virgin olive oil, and pure beeswax. It has no preservatives, fragrances or colourings. Olive & Bee does not interfere with vaginal pH, and has also been tested to prove that no bacteria, yeast or mould would grow in it, making it extremely safe to use in sensitive areas. Creating a new product of course comes with its challenges, particularly when you have limited experience in product development, manufacturing and retail.

“It has taken four years from idea to market, including 26 recipes,” says Claire.

“There was so much to learn along the way, such as how to get TGA approval, how to source packaging, and how to register a Trademark – but I think it shows that if you are persistent and committed anyone with an idea can take it to market.”

Through product testing and feedback received along the way, Claire was also determined to create a lubricant that wasn’t embarrassing to buy, or keep on the bathroom shelf.

“It was important that the product packaging was appealing due to its diverse application, which is also why I called it an intimate cream as opposed to a lubricant.

“Apart from in*******se Olive & Bee can be used to relieve vaginal dryness or itching associated with menopause, breastfeeding and skin issues" reports Claire. The product however is not just for women - men can also experience itching and pain, and benefit from a natural moisturiser. The product has hit the ground running, with sales now into over a dozen other countries.

“One of the most exciting moments in this journey was seeing Olive & Bee on the shelf at Priceline Pharmacy Norwood – and then hearing that they sold out four times in three months,” says Claire.
