🤍 BEFORE YOUR MAKEUP APPOINTMENT 🖤

Makeup doesn’t start when you sit in my chair, it starts with how you arrive.

A few simple things you can do that can make a BIG difference to how your makeup applies, looks and lasts throughout your important day.

ARRIVE WITH A CLEAN FACE

Please make sure you have properly cleansed your face before your appointment and arrive with no leftover makeup.

Even small amounts of old foundation, concealer, mascara, eyeliner or skincare residue can interfere with fresh makeup. Leftover products can mix with the products I apply, affecting how they blend, adhere and wear. It also takes extra time we don't have to take it off.

PLEASE DON’T ARRIVE WEARING MAKEUP

I know it can be tempting to put on a little concealer or foundation before leaving the house , especially if you’re heading straight from work or another appointment, but please don’t.

Removing makeup takes additional time and can mean less time for your actual makeup application. But also traces of makeup can remain on the skin even after a quick removal.

KEEP SKINCARE SIMPLE

Please avoid applying heavy skincare, multiple layers of serums, facial oils or body lotion to your face before your appointment.

Too many products, especially rich or oily ones, can leave a film on your face and affect how your makeup sticks, blends and wears. Body lotions ESPECIALLY aren’t formulated specifically for facial skin and can be too rich underneath makeup.

LEAVE YOUR SKIN & LIPS ALONE

Try not to pick, squeeze or exfoliate your skin immediately before your appointment, as this can cause redness, irritation and uneven texture.

The same goes for your lips, avoid picking or peeling dry skin. Alot of people have dry lips, keep them gently moisturised in the days leading up to your appointment for a smoother lipstick application.

And lastly !

WEAR THE RIGHT TOP!

People often forget that they have to get changed after hair and makeup and they where a T-shirt that needs to be pulled over their head, this can ruin your hair and effect your makeup. So make sure you wear something that is easy to get in and out of :)

Just to make things truly confusing, not one of these faces were completed by one person 😂 Ash and I synchronise so perfectly when we are working together. One starts and the other finishes and the results were beautiful.

After years of doing makeup, I’ve realised there are a few questions that come up ALL. THE. TIME.

1. Do you ever get sick of doing makeup?

Depends on the day 😂 But mostly No.. Cleaning 3787 brushes afterwards? That’s between me and God.

2. Can I bring my own makeup?

Now this one comes with a few ifs, buts & maybes. 😂

As professional makeup artists, our products are used with strict hygiene protocols. With our own personal makeup, we’re not necessarily thinking about decanting, sanitising or preventing cross-contamination the way a makeup artist does with her kit.

Some products, like certain foundations, can be safely decanted and used. Others… not so much. 👀

And unfortunately, our insurance companies probably won’t want to be our friends if we’re using products outside our hygiene protocols. 😂

So if you have a holy-grail product you absolutely want used, just ask me first!

3. Can you make me look younger?

I mean… I can make you look VERY well rested. 😂 and maybe try to hydrate that skin!

Makeup can soften, brighten, lift and enhance — but I’m not promising to take 10 years off unless you’ve found the secret portal to 2016. 😂

4. “You must get ALL the bridezillas!”

Honestly? 😂 I’ve never actually had a bridezilla!

My brides are usually the absolute sweetest — excited, happy and just wanting to feel bloody amazing. 🤍

Now… sometimes the mother of the bride, mother-in-law & bridesmaids?.... well..
That’s a completely different story. 😂 and boy could I tell you some story's.

But honestly, weddings can be stressful and there’s A LOT of personalities in one room. And a lot going on. My job is to keep the vibes calm, make everyone feel beautiful and comfortable and occasionally play part-time therapist! 😂
