Marine biologists or the ability to breathe underwater - I would have been fine with either of these pathways in life!
Australian kids show Ocean Girl aired on Channel 10 from 1994 - 1997. It starred Marzena Godecki as Neri, a girl with the ability to breathe underwater and communicate with whales. As the show progressed we learned more about why she had these abilities.
The majority of the show’s other characters lived and worked in an underwater research station called ORCA (Oceanic Research Center of Australia). Like so many shows of this time, there was strong environmental and conservation messaging throughout! And with marine biology as the focus, there’s got to be a strong correlation with why so many of us wanted to follow that career.

Holiday sloth mode engaged
We lost our beloved puppy Obi last week and where is bed used to be, I was getting depressed at the empty space in the corner of our bedroom. So I decided to put my girl Bessie there to fill the void. However as healing for me as it is to have something there now for Bessie to get enough lighting throughout the day I have to now drag the bitch to the window every day so she can stay magnificently big 🤣
