Reflux after starting treatment? You’re not alone.💙

It’s one of the most common side effects we see. The good news? For most people, it’s temporary.

Why does it happen? Weight loss medications slow gut motility, meaning food stays in the stomach for longer. This can sometimes trigger reflux symptoms.

Tommy’s top tips to help manage reflux:
• Eat smaller meals
• Avoid foods and drinks that trigger symptoms, such as spicy foods
• Consider reducing caffeine ☕️ (we know 😢 😢)

For most people, simple lifestyle changes are enough to help manage symptoms while the body adjusts. ✨

If symptoms are severe, ongoing or you’re concerned, reach out to the NUYU team.

Everyone has an opinion about medical weight loss 🙄

It’s the friend who means well. The online comment calling you a cheat. The article that tells you the opposite of what you read yesterday.

“You’ll lose muscle.” “You’ll regain the weight.” “You shouldn’t eat carbs.”

Everyone seems to have something to say.

At NUYU, we focus on evidence, not opinions. Facts, not fear.

And if you’ve hit a bump in the road, you don’t have to figure it out alone.

That’s why we’ve created a range of free guides to help you navigate the most common challenges on any weight loss journey. From pregnancy to travel, we’ve got a guide to help.

Simply DM us the challenge you’re navigating and we’ll send the guide straight through 💙

If you’re thinking about, or starting medical weight loss, remember this:

You’re doing this for you and your health.

Lots of people will have opinions. Some will cheer you on. Some won’t understand. That’s okay.

What’s important is that you’re making a decision that’s right for you, with the guidance of a doctor.

And in those first few weeks, support matters. Having people around you who understand your journey, answer your questions, celebrate your wins and help you through the challenges can make all the difference 🤍

The first four weeks on medical weight loss can be full of surprises.

There’s a lot of information and misinformation online, and it can be hard to know what to expect when you’re getting started.

While everyone’s journey is different, there are some things many people notice as their body adjusts to treatment and settles into a new routine.

So we’ve put together a simple week-by-week guide to help explain what’s normal, what changes you might notice, and when to reach out for support.

Swipe through to see what the first four weeks often look like 💛

MYTH: “Once you stop, you’ll regain it all.”

The truth? It’s not as simple as that.

Some people stay on medication long term. Some reduce their dose. Some stop altogether.

✨ What matters is having a plan and making changes with guidance from a medical professional.

Long-term success isn’t about medication alone. It’s about the habits that support your health, including movement, nutrition, maintaining muscle mass and building sustainable routines.

The best approach is the one that’s tailored to you.

You do you 💛

PLOT TWIST: we agree. Stacey Sims is right 😳 Hollywood is taking weight loss too far.

For years, women were told to eat less and exercise more.
More cardio.
Smaller bodies.
Lower numbers on the scale.

But despite everything we now know about women’s health, the conversation around weight loss still has a long way to go.

We know weight loss should be about body composition, not just body weight.
Building muscle, not losing it.
Better health and long-term wellbeing, not shrinking women.

✨ Because medical weight loss should support your long-term health, not sacrifice it.

In case you missed it, we’ve reposted the interview to our page and would love to hear your thoughts 🤍
