MAKING MISTAKES CREATES WISDOM ✨
We've all made countless mistakes, tiny little ones that don't really matter (hello hot pink towels that were white when they went into the wash!) to larger life altering mistakes. I've been in relationships I should have left earlier, gone back to people that have hurt me or let me down. I've not spoken up when I should have, I've allowed people access to me that don't deserve it, accepted less than I deserve. In the past I continued to use drugs and alcohol to escape reality even though it triggered my epilepsy. I've made choices about my health that weren't really my choices but other people's projections.
Yes they may look like mistakes from the outside, yes I may have suffered health wise, financially, emotionally and yes other people may have done things differently but ultimately I regret nothing. All of this has brought me to where I am now and the person I am today. The lessons I have gained, the wisdom. The knowledge about myself, my body, other people and the wild dynamics of the world. The sovereignty, the empowerment I now feel, I wouldn't trade any of it. I'm grateful in fact.
Transformation and growth is never comfortable, making mistakes are never comfortable but if we can reframe how we look at them, if we can get comfortable in making mistakes and instead find the lessons in them, then we take back the story and the power. We can find out valuable information about ourselves and use this awareness, these bits of information, to create the life we want, to become the people we want to be and live a life of joy and abundance.

VITAMIN D & OUR NERVOUS SYSTEM ☀️
Vitamin D plays an important role in our nervous system, mood and mental health due to its neuroprotective effects. It influences the development and survival of our neurons (brain cells), reduces oxidative stress and supports neuroplasticity.
A deficiency of vitamin D is linked with anxiety, depression and seasonal affective disorder. More severe deficiences have been noted in more serious neurolgoical disorders such as Parkison's, schizophrenia, autism and multiple sclerosis. Of course there are many other factors at play with these conditions and there are so many more functions of vitamin D such as bone density, reproductive health and optimal immune system function.
Vitamin D can be obtained from the sun by a chemical reaction that takes place in our skin. As well as dietary sources and supplementation. Optimal time in the sun each day to maximise vitamin D synthesis during winter is 7-40 minutes and 6-8 minutes in the summer months ☀️
Continue to use suncream and be sun safe after this time though!
For those with darker complexions, work indoors, live in countries with less daylight or cover up for personal or cultural reasons, vitamin D deficiency is more common and supplementation may be required. Often 1000IU a day is sufficient but depends on your holistic health needs.
If you feel your mood is chronically low, you're feeling burnt out or anxious it's worthwhile having your vitamin D levels checked by your naturopath or doctor.
If you've been living in lockdown in Sydney for the last four months like I have, I've been super grateful for the great weather. It's definitely supported my mental health through this. Has anyone else noticed how the sun helps your mood?
