People sometimes forget how much sits behind one colour service.
Rent, wages, super, tax, insurance, colour, lightener, toner, treatments, foils, tools, education, products, admin, overheads.
Then add the actual work.
The consult, the formulation, the placement, the timing, the colour correction, the finish and the responsibility of getting it right.
You’re not just paying for the product or the hair.
You’re paying for the whole standard behind it.
My top 5 tips to getting the perfect hair pic 🫶🏽🤳
Bring all the hair to the front so it becomes the focus. Make sure the hair takes up most of the screen, especially if you’re shooting on your phone. If your client has long hair, get them to lean slightly forward so the shape falls naturally.
Then angle the chin towards the shoulder to create a softer shape through the body and the hair.
And my favourite trick: flip your camera upside down. It shows you what the hair looks like from your client’s point of view and makes the whole shot feel more elevated.
I also love filming the hair in movement and screenshotting from the video, because sometimes the best photo is hidden in the motion.
