Surgical Solutions & Support; servicing Hobart & Launceston

Ten years of TechnoMed.
On Saturday night, we were incredibly fortunate to have so many of the people who have been part of our journey come together to celebrate this milestone with us.
TechnoMed began in 2016 with humble beginnings and a simple idea: listen to what surgeons and hospitals actually need, work hard to find solutions, and provide the kind of clinical support and service that people can genuinely rely on.
At the heart of that has always been the patient. We believe surgeons should have access to the implants, instruments and technologies they believe are the best option for the person they are treating, and that being in Tasmania should never mean being short changed on choice, technology or support.
Ten years later, we are enormously proud of what that little business has become. But looking around the room on Saturday night, it was very clear that what we have built is about so much more than products, implants or technology.
It is about people.
Our incredible team, past and present. Our distributor partners who have trusted and supported us. The theatre, nursing, loans and sterilising teams we work alongside every day. And, above all, the surgeons who place their trust in us to support them, their teams and ultimately their patients.
We are incredibly proud that a business that began in a spare bedroom now provides meaningful employment for a wonderful team and supports eight families. We are proud of the relationships we have built, the problems we have helped solve, and the contribution we have been able to make to surgical care here in Tasmania.
Saturday night was our opportunity to stop for a moment and simply say thank you.
To everyone who has trusted us, worked alongside us, supported us and been part of the past ten years: thank you. TechnoMed would not be what it is without you.
We remain deeply grateful for the privilege of being supportive guests in the operating rooms in which we work.
Here’s to the next ten years. 🥂

Two Days. Two Specialties. One Shared Purpose.
This past weekend, TechnoMed had the privilege of facilitating two cadaveric education programs at the University of Tasmania School of Medicine for Tasmanian neurosurgical and orthopaedic registrars.
Across both days, registrars worked alongside experienced consultant surgeons in a combination of focused teaching, practical discussion and hands-on cadaveric dissection.
These programs are something we care deeply about.
As theatre nurses, we understand the value of hands-on learning and the role it plays in strengthening knowledge, building confidence and broadening surgical skill.
There is something uniquely valuable about standing beside experienced surgeons, discussing anatomy, exploring surgical approaches and working through the practical nuances that cannot be fully appreciated through textbooks or lectures alone.
Ultimately, education like this matters because better prepared surgical teams contribute to smoother surgery, stronger teamwork and better outcomes for patients.
We would like to sincerely thank the consultant surgeons who generously gave their time, expertise and enthusiasm across both days. Their commitment to teaching and mentoring the next generation of surgeons is something we greatly value and respect.
Thank you also to the University of Tasmania School of Medicine for providing access to an outstanding learning environment and supporting practical surgical education here in Tasmania.
Most importantly, we acknowledge the extraordinary generosity of those who chose to donate their bodies to science and medical education.
Their gift is profound.
The opportunity to learn human anatomy and surgical technique in this way is both humbling and deeply significant. These programs exist because of this generosity, and we approach that privilege with genuine gratitude and respect.
We would also like to acknowledge the support of our industry partners who helped make these programs possible.

Yesterday concluded a couple of inspiring days spent at the Tasmanian Women in Business Conference for Toni, Erin and Emma.
It was refreshing to step outside the day-to-day and listen to women leading businesses, building communities, navigating growth, and speaking honestly about resilience, purpose, and the juggle of work and home life.
It was also fabulous spending time together and being immersed in the power and beauty of women working alongside one another; supporting, encouraging and learning from each other.
One of the strongest takeaways was the reminder that great businesses are built through people, relationships and clear values; not just systems and strategy.
We came away with plenty of ideas around communication, culture, marketing and creating meaningful experiences for both our team and the people we support.
A huge thank you to the organisers, speakers and everyone involved in creating such a positive and empowering event for women in business across Tasmania.
Always valuable taking the time to learn, reflect and return with fresh perspective.

Today we celebrate the nurses who keep our healthcare system moving.
At TechnoMed, we have the privilege of working alongside incredible nurses across Tasmania every day; in theatres, sterilising departments, and education settings. Their skill, calmness under pressure, teamwork, advocacy, and patient care often form the backbone of great surgical outcomes.
Many of our own team came from nursing backgrounds, so we understand firsthand the complexity, responsibility, and heart that nursing brings to healthcare.
To all nurses; thank you for the work you do, the patients you care for, and the support you provide to the teams around you.
Happy International Nurses Day.

As we continue recognising the people who drive our business forward, today we’re introducing another valued member of the TechnoMed team.
Meet April Foale, one of our Clinical Support Specialists.
April is a Registered Nurse and Clinical Coordinator at the Launceston General Hospital, where she has spent a number of years working within the perioperative environment. Throughout her career, she has developed a strong clinical foundation, a deep understanding of theatre workflow, and trusted relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
In 2025, April joined TechnoMed to focus on delivering outstanding clinical support for our orthopaedic trauma portfolio, including the DePuy Synthes Trauma range. Her role centres on supporting surgeons, nurses, and CSSD teams to ensure cases run efficiently, instrumentation is prepared and appropriate, and theatre teams feel confident in the support around them.
April brings a calm, capable presence to every case. Her clinical background, attention to detail, and ability to anticipate the needs of the theatre team make her a highly valued part of the TechnoMed service model. She understands the practical realities of the operating environment and works closely alongside teams to help deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.
April says:
“Working as a Clinical Support Specialist for TechnoMed has broadened my understanding of biomedical science and strengthened my relationships across multiple clinical settings. Supporting and educating theatre teams brings me great satisfaction.”
Outside of work, April enjoys an active lifestyle, including playing AFL and spending time with her husband Jarrod and their dog.
We’re very pleased to have her as part of the TechnoMed team and look forward to the continued impact she will have across Tasmania.

We’re growing at TechnoMed.
We work closely with surgical teams across Tasmania; supporting cases, preparing instrumentation, and helping ensure theatre runs smoothly; all contributing to positive patient outcomes.
We place a high value on being reliable, prepared, and consistent; doing the work properly, every time.
We’re looking for someone who brings that same mindset; someone who takes pride in their work and adds value to the team around them.
If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

A week of learning, collaboration and a little adventure with Topher Hunter from OsteoRemedies.
It’s been a great week for the TechnoMed team, spending time sharing the latest clinical insights on Xperience® Advanced Surgical Irrigation with surgeons and hospital teams.
The journey began in Brisbane, where our Medical Science Liaison Toni Hoppitt attended the Bone, Joint and Spine Infection Symposium hosted by the Jamieson Trauma Institute. Together with Topher, Toni heard from leading clinicians and researchers discussing the latest approaches to preventing and managing orthopaedic and spine infections.
From there, the conversations continued in Tasmania, with Brenton Lovering, Toni and Topher meeting with surgeons and theatre teams across Hobart and Launceston to discuss the growing clinical evidence supporting Xperience in helping reduce the risk of surgical site infection.
For us, these visits are always about more than products; they’re about sharing knowledge, discussing real clinical challenges, and supporting surgical teams with evidence-based tools that ultimately benefit patients.
And in true TechnoMed fashion, we also managed to keep up our tradition of fitting in a swim along the way; this time at the beautiful Cataract Gorge in Launceston.
A big thank you to Topher Hunter, and to OsteoRemedies and Novus Surgical for supporting the visit.

As we continue recognising the people who drive our business forward, today we’re introducing another valued member of the TechnoMed team.
Meet Jeremy Sharpen, our Director of Orthopaedics.
Jeremy spent the majority of his career with Stryker Joint Replacement, where over 14 years he built a territory and team from the ground up. During that time, he developed strong, trusted relationships within the surgical community through his clinical knowledge, consistency, and commitment to high-quality service and support.
In August 2024, Jeremy joined TechnoMed ready for a new challenge, primarily taking on the restoration and growth of the Synthes Trauma portfolio across Tasmania. It was a significant undertaking requiring focus, resilience, and deep engagement with surgeons and theatre teams across the state.
Since coming on board, Jeremy has played a key role in strengthening the portfolio and growing the business. More importantly, surgeons throughout Tasmania now have dependable service when booking Synthes Trauma products - with confidence that they, along with nursing and CSSD teams, will be well supported. Jeremy leads from the front, values long-term relationships, and brings a steady, solutions-focused presence to every case.
Jeremy says:
“The opportunity to be in theatre each day supporting surgical teams in their work has always been deeply rewarding. Ensuring the right tools are available at the right time, or helping navigate a challenge mid-case - all contributes to achieving the best possible patient outcome. Being able to do more of this while building something distinctly Tasmanian with TechnoMed felt like the perfect next chapter.”
Outside of work, Jeremy enjoys a full and active family life. He and his wife Simone have two teenagers, and between school commitments, sport, and planning the next family holiday, there’s just enough time most days for a quality coffee followed by a run.
We’re incredibly fortunate to have him as part of the TechnoMed team and look forward to what’s ahead.

It’s time for us to get back to shining a light on the people who make TechnoMed what it is.
First up and long overdue, is Toni.
Toni has been a cornerstone of our team for many years, and we’re so pleased to finally share her here.
With a degree in Biomedical Science, Toni brings a unique blend of scientific knowledge and operational expertise to the business. Her background spans Biochemistry and Haematology within the Pathology sector, both in the UK and Australia, as well as running a small business in the health and movement industry before joining us in 2022.
Toni wears many hats. She oversees accounts, coordinates bookings and administration, and acts as our in-house Science Liaison for Xperience; our surgical irrigation solution designed to help reduce surgical site infections. She plays a vital role in supporting both the clinical and operational sides of the business.
The logistics behind instrumented theatre cases are complex and time-sensitive. Toni works quietly behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly so our clinical team can focus on patient care.
Outside of work, Toni enjoys spending time in nature with her husband and two boys. She loves the beach, mountain biking, and catching up with friends.
We’re incredibly grateful for the dedication, care and capability she brings to the team every day.
Stay tuned as we continue introducing more of the people behind TechnoMed.

Great partnerships are built on shared values 🤝
Recently, Mat Usher, Toni Hoppitt and our Managing Director Brenton Lovering, spent time in Sydney with one of our key distributor partners, E4 Surgical.
E4 is a family business, and that alignment is clear. We share a strong focus on practical, customer-driven clinical solutions that support surgeons and improve patient care.
A real strength of E4 is their in-house engineering capability. With two engineers embedded in the team; including co-founder Eland Cramlet, they’re able to respond quickly and thoughtfully to instrumentation challenges, delivering solutions that genuinely make a difference in theatre, in a time frame that feels relevant to the clinical need rather than constrained by corporate process.
The team generously hosted us for a cruise on Sydney Harbour, with great food, great conversations, and even a swim for some of the braver souls.
We’re grateful for the partnership and look forward to continuing to work closely with E4 into the future.
