What if the nails you know as “normal” are actually 20 years behind?

I moved to Australia 11 years ago.

And for 11 years, I’ve been waiting for the nail industry here to catch up.

Because none of what I’m talking about is new.

Hard gel isn’t new.
Advanced nail correction isn’t new.
Detailed e-file manicures aren’t new.
Choosing a product based on the individual nail isn’t new.
Building strength through architecture instead of bulk isn’t new.

These techniques have been developing and evolving elsewhere for 2 decades
There were times when clients chose not to book with me because I didn’t offer acrylic.

Not because they had compared acrylic with hard gel and decided acrylic was better for them but because they simply didn’t know what hard gel was. I still regularly meet people who have never heard of it.

Clients who think their choices are acrylic or BIAB.

Clients who have never been shown that downward-growing nails can be corrected.

Clients who don’t know why one product may be perfect for one person and completely wrong for another.

I know why.

The industry keeps serving the same menu:
Clients ask for what they recognise.
Salons keep supplying what’s requested.
The loop repeats while global technique moves forward.

Meanwhile, techniques elsewhere have kept evolving.

That cycle has continued for long enough.

You can’t ask for something you’ve never been shown exists.

So I’m not waiting for the Australian nail industry to catch up anymore.

I’m going to contribute to changing it.

And we could go on…

The girls who know… know cheaper usually means something had to give.

The girls who know… know “fresh” shouldn’t already look two weeks old.

The girls who know… expect retention.

And once you know, you know. 🤍

Do your hands and toes have to match?

I don’t think they have to be identical, but I do like them complementing each other. Here’s how I balanced mine.

I haven’t worn my nails this long in years, and I genuinely thought they’d start annoying me. Instead, they’ve only become more comfortable with each day.

There’s something about having both your hands and toes freshly done that makes you feel instantly more put together. It’s such a small detail, but it changes the way you carry yourself.

Just because I can work faster doesn’t mean I should. Every extra minute has a purpose. Details are everything. 🧡 Every layer, every blend, every shift of light is intentional. 🤌
