🌧️🐴 A Little Wet Weather Reminder 🐴🌧️

As we head into the wetter months I just wanted to share a friendly reminder to help ensure your horse gets the most out of their treatment session 🤗

Horses should be dry before their appointment and have access to suitable undercover shelter if rain is forecast this allows me to properly assess and work through the muscles as wet coats and damp muscles can make treatment a little more challenging and certainly isn’t ideal

Following treatment it’s also beneficial for horses to be kept warm and protected from the weather where possible once treatment has been completed 🙌

I completely understand that sometimes the weather has other plans especially during winter but a little preparation beforehand can make a big difference to both your horse’s comfort and the overall effectiveness of their treatment 😘

Phoenix the Unicorn loving life as a paddock puff 🦄

This special guy has certainly been on a journey and I am so grateful I got to be apart of it along the way 🤎

Like so many horses Phoenix and his owner Jess faced ongoing soundness challenges over the years and with jess ensuring he had everything at his fingertips from a great farrier myself the vet and her coaches all in their corner working as a team we worked through the ups and downs always putting Phoenix’s wellbeing first 🤎

After many in-depth discussions and careful consideration Jess made the selfless decision to retire him for the sake of his quality of life 🙌

Could Phoenix have continued on with additional intervention and management? Probably to a certain point but the reality was that he wasn’t truly happy in his work and neither was his body and certain issues would continue to resurface and that’s ok 👌

Sometimes our horses don’t enjoy the jobs we ask them to do and sometimes their bodies struggle with the demands within that work and sometimes their behaviour tells us the biggest part of the story but whatever the reason listening to the horse is always the biggest piece of the puzzle so we can treat them accordingly 🤎

At just 10 years old this beautiful boy has embraced retirement and is absolutely thriving in his new role as a professional lawnmower 🤎

Our horses don’t care about the ribbons the results or the opinions around us they care about connection consistency and how we make them feel 🙌

Because at the end of the day this journey is supposed to be enjoyed ✨

Being able to share a space such as this what an incredible privilege bringing someone along to share learn and grow with who is so passionate and invested was an absolute breath of fresh air I am so genuinely excited not just for her but the horse community also ✨

When I started this journey I was lucky enough to have an incredible mentor outside of my equestricare studies with the most supportive and encouraging bodyworker Jemma moon well known for her success in the industry and for me that was a privilege and a complete game changer 🙏

So when I was chatting with one of equestricares students an extremely knowledgeable horsewoman Shannon langridge it was a no brainer for me to have her along to do some exposure and learning today and it wasn’t just about me teaching her because when we are open to sharing we all gain from each other and that’s something pretty special 🫶

I absolutely love women empowering women because supporting each other does wonders especially in the horse industry 💪

Shannon it was an absolute pleasure to share space with you today and I look forward to the next time 🤍
