I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll keep on saying it!! Make sure you go to a reputable salon for pedicures and manicures!!
Nail techs should be fully trained, and sterilize their equipment or even have tools specifically for you and you only!
In “convenient” salons you’d be lucky to find even one person who is properly qualified.

Perth woman Kyla Willcox has spent a week in hospital after developing sepsis in one of her big toes.

She developed the infection shortly after a pedicure during which the skin on her toe was scrubbed vigorously with a pumice stone.

"When they drained my toe, it was so full of pus and everything. They said if it's in the bone, that will have to be amputated," Ms Willcox told Nadia Mitsopoulos on 102.5 ABC Perth.

She is concerned that the nail salon instruments were not properly sterilised and is calling for greater regulation of the sector.
