I couldn’t think of anyone better than Casey to try it on. Fresh, glowing skin, soft definition and polished glam without a layer of foundation. Finally got my hands on she goes to the gym but also used the beautiful in peach pop to change it up slightly

Would you wear a no-foundation look on your wedding day?

She nearly chose no makeup at all. That’s how afraid she was of not looking like herself.

This is Lauren.

She originally booked me for hair and makeup for her wedding in Italy, but before the wedding she messaged to say she was considering having hair only.

She was nervous about having her makeup done because she was used to doing it a very specific way herself and was worried she would not feel like herself.

After a full consultation, I did her makeup for the welcome dinner. I checked in throughout the process about the colours, coverage and overall level of makeup, and she absolutely loved the finished look.

That gave her the confidence to trust me with her wedding-day makeup too.

The only thing we changed for the wedding was the lashes. Lauren was more used to wearing a strip lash, so we adjusted that detail while keeping the rest of the look true to what she had already loved.

The makeup suited her beautifully, but more importantly, she felt comfortable and still felt like herself.

And as you can hear in the video, she loved it.

This is why consultation and communication matter so much. A bride should never feel she has to choose between looking polished and looking like herself.

If you’re over 30, let’s set realistic expectations.

Makeup creases. Skin has texture. Your face moves.

No product is going to stop that completely, and anyone telling you otherwise is probably relying on filters or perfect lighting.

The goal isn’t to eliminate creasing. It’s to minimise it so your makeup looks fresh, natural and lasts as long as possible.

Here are a few things that make the biggest difference:

• Prep your under-eyes with lightweight hydration rather than heavy eye creams.
• Use thin layers of concealer. More product usually means more creasing.
• Instead of placing concealer directly into your under-eye crease, apply it slightly lower and buff the product upwards. This gives you coverage without packing excess product into the lines where it naturally folds.
• Set lightly with a finely milled powder. Too much powder can make texture look more obvious.
• If creasing does happen, gently tap it out with your finger before adding any more powder.

As a bridal makeup artist, I’d much rather your skin still looks like skin than overload it with product trying to create an unrealistic finish.
