Pigmentation starts with our melanocytes, the cells responsible for producing melanin. When triggered by UV exposure, hormones, inflammation or trauma they can produce excess pigment.
The first step is identifying what type of pigmentation we’re dealing with as this determines the right treatment and homecare.
☀️ Sun spots
🤎 Melasma
🔥 Post-inflammatory pigmentation

When treating this condition PATIENCE + CONSISTENCY will be our best friend.
Pigmentation takes time to improve through commitment to your home care and treatment plan.

DRY, DEHYDRATED, PARCHED SKIN? 💧
This could be just the saviour your skin has been begging for.

Whilst you’re catching some much needed zzz, your skin is getting a serious hydration hit. Packed with thirst-quenching ingredients to help replenish, plump and revive that dry, dehydrated skin.

Simply apply an almond size of step 1 to face, neck and décolletage and allow to dry for a few minutes.
Then massage a small amount of step 2 over the top and your set.

Skin lifting also known as skin grazing

We can see this in the photo, it is commonly mistaken for a burn but this is actually the top layers of skin (epidermis) being removed with the wax.

It will appear as:
* Shiny or raw looking skin
* Red
* Sensitive or sore

It is caused by the use of:
* Retinol
* Tretinoin
* Roaccutane or any acne medication
* Medically prescribed creams for acne
* Exfoliating ingredients such as AHA, BHA, glycolic acid
* Recent peels
* Excessive sun exposure/Sunburn

Many clients are unaware that their skincare or medication can increase the skins sensitivity and the risk of skin lifting is higher.
If you are using any sort of acne medication topically or ingested we kindly recommend not getting waxed whilst actively using treatment (we can still tweeze).
If you are using active ingredients in your skincare we recommend stopping using them 48 hours before your appointment.

The skin lift will typically heal within 5-7 days and we will provide you with a skin healing balm to apply over the area to take home with you.

Skin lifting is unfortunately one of those situations that can be incredibly upsetting for both the client and the therapist.
The reality is that sometimes the skin can react unexpectedly, particularly when it has been compromised by retinoids, acne medications or active skincare.
If you’re unsure whether your skincare is compatible with waxing please ask us before your appointment. We’re always happy to chat. 🤍
