Well… I finally went to Specsavers 👓😂

Turns out my long-distance vision is slowly going and apparently I actually DID need glasses.

Honestly though… I kinda look hot in them 😜
Serving sexy geek and I’m not even mad about it 🤓🔥

But seriously, I’ve been wondering why I’ve been feeling so bloody tired lately… maybe it’s because I’ve been spending half my life squinting trying to SEE 😂

And here’s me at work genuinely thinking that little haze in the distance was just steam, hairspray and product floating around from blow-drying all day 💀

Nope.
Apparently that was just my eyesight 😂

The interesting part is I first started noticing a difference in my vision a few months after starting weight-loss injections. I’ll never know for sure if they had anything to do with it, but it definitely makes me wonder!

And YES… I’ve basically been wandering around half blind for about a year and a half after stopping them before finally thinking, “hmmm… maybe I should get my eyes checked” 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

Should’ve gone to Specsavers…

Oh wait… I FINALLY DID 😏👓

The joys of slowly getting older. First it’s glasses, next I’ll be telling everyone to turn the music down and complaining about my back 😂

At least I can enter this next chapter actually being able to see it…

And looking pretty damn cute while doing it 😜

Tonight gave me one of those little reminders I think I actually needed.

I was standing at the Macy Gray merch stand, literally about to buy this jumper, when one of my beautiful clients yelled out, “I’ll buy it for you!”

My immediate reaction was basically, “Absolutely not!” 😂

I’m so used to being the person who shouts my friends, gives the gift, helps someone out, or does something for someone else. That’s how I was raised. So when someone tries to do something for me, my instinct is usually to say no.

But tonight I stopped myself.

I thought, Andy, just accept the gift. Let someone do something beautiful for you. Embrace the love instead of always trying to give it away.

So I did.

And oh my god, I absolutely LOVE it. 😭❤️

Then throughout the night, complete strangers kept stopping me and telling me I looked amazing. Half of them I’d never even met before.

Maybe that sounds like such a small thing, but after everything life throws at you, there’s something pretty bloody special about reaching a point where you can stand there and think…

Maybe I’m starting to see myself the way other people see me.

Not hiding.
Not picking myself apart.
Not brushing off every compliment.
Just accepting it.

Accept the compliment.
Accept the gift.
Accept the kindness.
Accept the love.

You don’t always have to be the giver. Sometimes letting someone love on you is a gift to them too. ❤️

So thank you for my Macy Gray jumper. You honestly made my night, and I’m more grateful than you know.

And to every beautiful person who stopped me tonight with a kind word… thank you.

Apparently I’m entering my “stop arguing with compliments and just say thank you” era. 😂

And I think I kinda like it. ❤️

Tonight Sarah and I are off to see Macy Gray at the Tacking Point Tavern 🎶✨

I remember listening to her music growing up as a kid and now I’m going to see her LIVE 😭😂

Like… excuse me?! Does this mean I’m officially getting older now?!

Although I will say… music from that era just HIT DIFFERENT. I said what I said 👀😂
There was something about those songs that had actual soul, personality and a bit of weirdness to them… and I bloody love it.

It’s funny how one song can instantly take you back to a completely different time in your life. Different people, different memories, different version of YOU. 🥹❤️

So tonight we’re going to sing, dance, probably embarrass ourselves and enjoy the nostalgia.

Today I had the beautiful Nicole back in my chair ❤️

I first met Nicole probably around 13 years ago, back when I was still training under my mentor Darren… and honestly, what a full-circle moment 🥹

Back then, I was the apprentice learning, watching, growing and trying to soak up everything I possibly could.

Fast forward all these years… and now Nicole is sitting in my chair while Emily, my apprentice, and I work on her hair together.

TIME FLIES 😭❤️

It really hit me today just how much life can change. One minute you’re the apprentice trying to find your feet, and the next you’re the mentor helping someone else grow into the stylist they’re becoming.

Nicole, it was so lovely seeing you today. Thank you for continuing to trust me, and now us, with your hair. We’ll see you again in a month for your next appointment ❤️

And Em… thank you for being the most supportive, loyal and beautiful apprentice I could ever ask for. You are an absolute gem 💎 and don’t you ever forget it.

These are the moments that make me realise how special this industry really is.
