Rae-te It Or Hate It?

My thoughts on some products I’ve recently made my way through.

Reminder skincare wont do s**t if :
Your diet is a mess, your sleep hygiene is non existent, you avoid exercise and movement, your nervous system is cooked.

There’s no holy grail product, no botox in a bottle, no quick fix for skin conditions that have been there for years.

Before you buy, ask yourself :

Do I really need this anti-aging night cream or would it be more beneficial to stop screen time one hour before bed and wind down with a healthy bedtime routine instead?

The latter is obviously more helpful than a new cream.

Just a little over 7 weeks between pics.
Two weeks since last peel. Meaning the final results haven’t even happened yet. 🤩

My lovely client committed to three zero downtime chemical peels spaced two weeks apart.

We tweaked some homecare products she was using and built a simple yet effective routine she could stick to consistently.

In under two months we were able to lighten discolouartion giving her a more even complexion, we improved her under the area softening fine lines and pigmentation and we clear old acne markings. (PIE) Post Inflammatory Erythema.

Overall her skin tone, texture and illuminosity have all improved.

Little by little, week by week, small changes in the skin are happening. When we look at ourselves day to day it’s hard to notice those changes.

Staying consistent and trusting the process is neseccary to reap the rewards.

I’ve heard it so many times, or some variation of : I got needling done but I don’t think she knew what she was really doing.

Look not to be a b*tch but the truth is not all practitioners are the same, not all practitioners have that thirst for knowledge to expand their learnings beyond the blanket training, not all have the same capacity to retain training, not all have that intuitive spark or desire to fulfill client satisfaction and meet high standards of client care. That’s just how it is and you can say that in any industry really.

So if you’re choosing to invest in a procedure such a micro needling make sure you’ve also invested in the practitioner.

Micro Needling has become incredibly popular and for good reason. When it’s performed correctly, it’s one of my favourite treatments for improving skin quality, acne scarring, fine lines and overall skin health.

But one thing I learned early in my career is that not all microneedling is created equal.

The treatment itself isn’t what determines your results. The assessment, technique, depth, pressure, timing, pre-care and aftercare do.

Skin Barrier Repair.

It’s very easy for the barrier to become compromised.
Knowing when to identify the warning signs and strip your routine back is crucial in order to save yourself from a vicious circle of damaged barrier despair.

There are so many great barrier supporting
products. If you’re using strong active ingredients like Tretinoin or you use a lot of actives (listed in post) I’d highly recommend including some form of a barrier care product.

• Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream - Ceramides + cholesterol + fatty acids → mimics the skin’s natural barrier lipids. Great for: barrier damage, retinoid irritation, dehydration, redness-prone skin.

• Purito B5 Panthenol Re-barrier Cream - Panthenol + centella + squalane . Good for calming and supporting stressed skin. Better for oily/acne skins who hate creams.

• Torriden Solid-In Ceramide Cream - Ceramides + panthenol. Nice for dehydration and sensitivity.

• Etude SoonJung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream. Minimal, gentle formula. Good for easily reactive skins.

• La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5+
Classic “SOS” cream. - Panthenol + madecassoside + zinc. Great for irritated, angry skin (can feel heavy for acne-prone clients).

• Avène Cicalfate+ Restorative Protective Cream . Amazing for over-exfoliated skin, post-treatment dryness, compromised barrier.

•Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Baume. Great for very dry, eczema-prone style barriers.

Barrier Care Mists can also be an easy solution.
Spray a light layer before moistusier and anytime throughout the day.

Although I hear lots of people are getting it very cheap from Bali. So make sure to use it correctly and expect some level of retinoid reaction.
